Myton's Gas Tank - (For Water Storage)

how do you go about cleaning them sufficiently for drinking water or are they only for washing up? I have a 9kg bottle which I cut in half(long ways) to make a small BBQ. After a very exhaustive wash and steaming it out for about 5 houre(fringe benifit of work), it still stunk of LPG. In the interest of my own safety(considering the strong odour), I pumped a continuous flow of argon into it while I cut it to reduce the chance of it doing anything nasty. I have cooked on it several times and if you put your face close enough, you can still smell the LPG.

phil i ended up using car transporters devision of toll ipec ,they trans .to ether melb. or adelaide then put on train for rest of trip,can take up to 14 days. so can let you know about the train bit when ute arrives.cost 1256.oo incl gst[ pay up front] worked out cost of flying over /drive back but would be at least 1100.oo plu cnt aford the time either about 5 days allup. hope you have sorted your trns. out ihave no problems with rail bit. i can remember years ago when i used to have holdens ,you would get rear w/brg noise after about 60.000 ks which was apparently caused by the constant rocking of vehicle on train , brgs being in one spot ,not turning to reload with grease . ball running in race metal/metal contact.

blue . dont know about getting smell out of tank most peaple that got tanks from use for washing only . these tanks are made of good quality s/steel they unlike steel may be impervious to gas , you might have to talk to a chemist, must be somthing to get rit of chemical agent that is used in the gas , this agent is put into the gas so that it can be smelt in the event of a leak cant remember what the chemical is , would have to look up books .

just a thought may be wash in hot caustic bath try eng recon place might be the go!

I believe(but happy to stand corrected) that "Tert-dodecylmercaptan" is the chemical used to scent LPG. We use it at work but we don't have an antidote for the stench.
