Can anyone tell me what the new Hilux TD is like for towing please. I am looking at getting one if they are strong.

we have a camper trailer with a tow ball weight of around 100+ kg and have found rear susp too soft, just hard extra leaf put in and reset.
as for towing though no probs heaps of power, camper about 1tonne.
also had to install new coils as same problem with weight of b/bar,winch,d/batt.a/comp,lost 30mm just in weight.

I have only travelled 3500 Kms ,towed car & trailer 300 Km without any problem, plenty of power and response. Put my trailer on to tow hitch with 200 litres of
water in a drum sitting on the A frame up close to ute, and hitch dropped 40 mm , another 90 kilos ( myself) and hitch dropped further 15 mm . Thats about 300 kilos on the ball.
Only extra weight on
mine is a high roof canopy.
Very comfortable to ride and drive.
Seems like the only people knocking the new Hilux are people who own other makes.

'bout time we all gave the new Hilux the credit it,no doubt, deserves, after all,Toyota has a long history of turning out high quality products..My brother used to tow a double decker tandem trailer with 45 fat lambs on board 70
miles every Wed,sale day (116ks) to auctions behind (wait for it) a 6-cyl Toyota Crown wagon (electric rear slide window..revolutionary for those days) and it did it for years..No way they ever made the car/tranny to do that..Looks! Who cares..It's what's under the skin that counts :-) ..I'll try to remember that when I shave tomorrow..Maybe that's why nature made mirrors fog up when shaving..You're driftin'again Rocky.....!MPG:4!
