1994 Pajero V6 3000 multi point . can anyone please give me an indication of where the needle is on the guage during normal operation as it seems to have a wide field of play depending on conditions and A/c operation.

Many thanx in advance for any input.

I have the diesel, but talking to most of my friends, they are mostly the same.

Needle sits about half way or slightly under.

Find with mine that turning on the AC usually drops the temp slightly since the electric fan cuts in on the front of the AC condensor.

Have never seen the temp guage go much above half way with any type of driving, even 4wding in 35 deg plus.

Looks like you may have a problem.
How many Ks up?
Using any water?
Radiator OK? (Mine is the original after 250,000k, but wondering how much longer, just had the top tank and seal replaced).
Does turning on the heater full blast make a difference? (Indicates radiator)
Thermostat OK?
How often do you flush the system and refill? (I do mine every 18 mths)
What additive do you use? (Can make a difference to corrosion)
Radiator hoses OK ? When last replaced?

Used to have a 92 model and the gauge always sat around half way, never moved more than about a needles width, even when towing.

I have a 93 V6 3000 multi point. The guage sits at just under half way and doesn't move irrespective of the temperature of the day, towing, hills etc. I learned this the hard way when I noticed the temperature guage go up when towing my 16' poptop. The dealer said I needed the radiator re-cored and (dumb) I let him do it - no difference. I finally found a mechanic who told me it was the clutch on the fan. He fixed it and the guage has sat at just below half ever since.
Hope this is useful

Thanks guys it's all good. Although it has a varied field of operation it never goes over the half way point you mention. only just got the vehicle so maybe the thermostat is out and under light load runs too cool will have to check it out.
Thanx a million guys
