Hi all, we're now in Perth having been blown down the coast all the way from Ningaloo reef. We recently completed the fantastic 4wd from Cervantes to Lancelin along the coast and via the Pinancles (with trailer in tow) and had a play in the dunes at Lancelin.

We're now sitting out the rain and winds in Perth and hoping it clears up a bit before pushing on down towards Margaret River (and where I can play on the beach again.)

All this weather has allowed me to catch up on the online diary and post some photo's. There's now about 8 months worth, so if anyone can't sleep feel free to have a look :-) It may be of help to anyone planning a similar trip.

No real mishaps this quarter except to say that I had a battery replaced under warrenty - an ACDelco that only lasted about 3 months. Oh and I had my first puncture. A nail on the bitumen would you believe (after all this outback driving!).

Anyway all the best for now and if there's any questions I'm happy to respond to emails.

Cheers, Juma

Juma,

Looks like you guys are having a great time even with the equipment mishaps. Like your website. Still reading your diaries etc and starting to get serious about planning our own trip around the block.

Keep safe and above all, enjoy yourselves.

This was a 1½ weeks ago, but

Don’t now about Margaret river area but between the Manjimup to Albany zone some tracks have a fair bit of water in some sections nothing extreme but on some of the larger sections of water you may want to check depth and how solid the bottom is.

Also some beach access has been washed away making getting off extremely hard also if a storm front comes in the beach can disappear all together fairly fast.

I turned around on 2 tracks, as the water was a little higher than I was willing to go thro in a 4WD with no snorkel or diff breather extensions, we did speak to a guy in a old Range rover who had just done a track we were about to go down and he said he had water coming over his bonnet on sections.

We also slid down 2 muddy hills, even crawling in Low range 1St gear, and the ass end was hanging right out as we had trees on one side and a good sized drop off on the other and guess which way the car would slide. Wile I was franticly using every inch of traction we got to creep the 4WD back towards the tree line before having it slide in the opposite direction agene, the poor guy in the passenger seat was using the F word a lot and had a firm grip on the Jesus handle.
