Is there such a thing ????
Local auto electrician (noting that I asked him a few months ago about AGM battteries and he had not heard of them!!!!!!)was showing me a battery that he thought may have been what I had previously asked him.
I didn't get a good look at the brand as it was a quick visit. He described it as a cranking battery with deep cycle characteristics. It was wet cell. It had a CCA on it (that I did't get) and an AH rating of 80. On the side it read Glass Matt technology.
He advised that he had been using them for about 12 months specifically for auxillary batteries for kangaroo shooters. They skin the roos at night running lights and also a high power electric motor for skinning (hence the need for cranking power similar to say winching although not as much power as a winch). It was priced at approx $130.
Sorry this is a bit vague however I have been searching the web for the past hour and can't find anything that resembled it. The true deep cycles he sells are badged with Australian Battery Company of which there is no web site.
Any takers here?

if you remember seeing the CCA rating on the battery somewhere then I think it would be a fair bet it's not a true Deep Cycle battery, but a compromise between a starting battery and a heavy duty battery similar to a "Marine battery".
They always have the CCA ratings and often the term "reserve capacity" as
well and a reference to equivelent to ?? a/h.

There are three ways of storing the ELECTROLYTE in a Battery -
- Liquid i.e wetcell
- Gel
- Absorbed Glass Mat
However Wetcells can use glass mat separators.
For all these three types, you can get Starting, Deep Cycle or Hybrid, depending how thick the PLATES are.
AGM cost a lot more, but they are a lot more robust against over and undercharging. An AGM Deep cycle can provide hundreds of Amps of starting current. I've just bought a Remco from Battery World - I suggest you go to a Battery Specialist rather than an Auto Electrician.
