Hi
I wonder if anybody knows the procedure for getting to the bearing in order to re-pack it with grease on this vehicle. It has manual hubs with (I think) 6 bolts attaching the locking ring to the front of the wheel hub.
I would be greatful for any tips - can't buy an after-market service manual for this vehicle.
Thanks in advance
George

George, behind that locking ring there should be a circlip to remove and the whole lot should slide off. Rus.

I replaced the wheel bearings about a year ago in an MK triton Diesel with manual hubs.
I didn't really know what to expect as I'd never had a front 4wd hub apart before. Parts you may need are the inside rubber seal ( I can't remember if there was an outer one??), and a gasket for the freewheeling hub ( I just put some gasket goo on when the gasket fell apart because the
shop was closed ) The bearings were inexpensive and easy to change if your car has done a few K's, cheaper from the bearing
shop than Mitsubishi.
Anyway, just pull it apart and it'll become obvious what needs to be done as you see the parts inside. All went
well when I did it apart from realising after it was all closed up that I left a seal out so I had to do one side twice.
Buy a tub-O-grease, some gasket goo, have a load of rags handy Just have a go.
Good luck
Stu

Hi Stoo
I am having trouble getting the circlip back in the groove - as i try to get into the groove the shaft moves rearwards (towards the diff) and makes the seating of the circlip impossible. Do you remember any problem of is sort?
