G'day all, just about to put a set of raised King Springs (about 50mm, I think) and Koni shoicks under the GU III 3.0 Patrol and was wondering if I have to extend brake lines or sway bar links with this amount of lift?

Thanks in advance.

Not necessary up to about 70mm, so I'm told.

Sway bar extensions should be fitted to the rear (available from ARB - quite cheap)

Brake proportioning valve at the rear should also be raised the same amount as the lift.

Brake lines will be fine.

Castor correction bushes "shouldnt" be needed for a 50mm lift but wheel alignment and handling will tell you

Whats the idea with the swaybar extensions, does the swaybar hit something it shouldn't? Just wondering as I don't have my patrol here at the moment to look at. I put a 3" lift under my gu and although I fitted caster correction bushes I don't remember looking at the sway bar at the back and don't off hand remember if it even has one. Cheers.

If you dont extend the swaybar links then you restrict downward travel of the suspension and the bar can hit on top of the diff.
You will also wear the bushes faster.

I have an OME 2" lift (which is closer to 3 than 2) and included swaybar extensions and caster corection bushes. The bushes aren't always required until alignment is
checked.

How do you attach the swaybar extensions on the LHS rear?
Both ends are ball mounts on my 2000 GU.

Gordon, they are brackets that are longer so the ball mounts will attach to the brackets which attach to the chasis.

Hi PG

I got the 2 inch OME lift done to our Patrol, by a 4x4 mechanic, not big name store. This shop also are into 4x4ing in a big way, and I heard good reports about them.

The advised (ad I took their advise)

With 2 inch plus lift, good practice is to ensure the following:

- caster bushes for front end (The car drives like a dream with no uneven tyre wear)
- Extensions to sway bar or loos too much travel.

I am very happy with results so would recommend same to others

Thanks
