My 2000 model 4.2 TD uses about 15.5 l/100km (but it has a roof rack on all it's life). You'd be expecting to get about 13.5l/100 not towing and 14.5l/100 towing a moderate size trailer (say up to 1.5tonne). The roof rack really knocks the economy, but I use it so often that it would be a waste of time pharting around removing it for a few days at a time!!! (:-((
Cheers
Roachie

fuel cosumption is a good question, i have found sitting on 95kms an hour
i get 12 .5 litres per hundred and 13 litres per hundred with trailer under 9oo kg
this in a 97 GQ4.2 turbo diesel with a larger than standard turbo and a mandrell
bent pipe. I WONT GO INTO THE LIST OF ADD ONS , cos i would be here for an hour typeing it.

Getting about 13-14/100 towing the camper trailer sitting around 95kmh sans roofrack. Last
tank was around 12/100 in town, no trailer, also no traffic light g.p's like you get in the city though, we live in a smallish town.

2001 4.2td using about 14l per 100k,s.Doesnt seem to vary much on how it is driven.Have a 6 wheeler(lazy axle) and loaded up and towing all up total wieght of about 6.5 tonnes and working hard doesnt alter much at all.Pretty bloody impressive really.

My average (99 Factory turbo) has been 12.6L in 100kms. That is an average made of 220000kms total.
I get between 12 and 13L in 100kms.
Best ever was 10L in 100kms.
Worst ever was 17L in 100kms crossing the
simpson desert fully laden.

Something must be wrong with
mine, reading all the responses here I could cry.
I get 15.5lt/100km empty and 20lt/100km with the van on. Just remember I don't muck around though, and setup is very very loaded all the time.
PS there is nothing wrong with
mine, it's been on the dyno more than I've had fun on the workbench lately. :-)))
Cheers Trevor.
