Hi
well we have decided which car we are buying , however a friend of ours is looking at a 'pajero DID' new, and wants some feedback. I have read a few posts and it looks fairly positive. I auto best he seemed impressed with this. What sort of price should he be paying with an abn number he wants the glx. How reliable and are they as economical as he has been told? You have all been so helpful to us I thought I would ask your advice again!
regards Lenni

I dont drive one, but I'd be easily swayed to drive off in a DiD Pajero...

He would be making a popular choice. I pay attention to the travellers i see when on the highway between work and home and paJ's are very common probably second only to the big boys patrol/cruiser with many of them towing

I upgraded from an NH petrol Pajero to a new auto DiD GLX earlier in the year and haven't regretted it after 30,000 km. Paid $48k on road and spent about $13k on mods.
Only problem so far was a blown
hazard light fuse which is apparently a common problem and if not detected can lead to electronics blowing up.

Dear Lenni,
I've clicked up 70,000 in my DiD including sand hills and some rough stuff. Most of my time is spent in the city of course. I am very happy. Reliable, comfortable and economical.

I have an MY04 DiD Exceed auto and love it for the way I use the vehicle. I would not consider anything but the Auto it's quite an amazing bit of gear and can be used in the "clutchles" manual mode.
Went diesel because of the grunt down low (373 Nm @ 2000 rpm). I tow 16ft Dirt road caravan and because of the diesel's economy it gives me a greater range. The Paj only has a single 90 litre fuel
tank in standard configuration.
The car is used for work and in suburban
Wollongong I get about 10.5 litres/100 km. I do a big trip every couple of years and smaller weekend trips when ever I can. Last big trip was July to October 2004. Up through Central Qld back to the coast at
Townsville. Up to
Cooktown, Lakefield NP, Wiepa, Chilli Beach via Frenchman's track, up the Old Telegaph track to
the tip. Back down again and across to the Gulf country. Down to
Birdsville,
Innamincka etc etc.
Left the van at
Port Douglas while we did the Cape but towed it everywhere else.
Car and van performed beautifully on and off road.

I am now into my 2nd DID. They're great. Am now towing a 23' jayco and am averaging between 14 and 18 l/100k with the van and 8l/100k solo. Around town i get 11l/100k consistantly.
I was able to compare it ot a Patrol 4.5 gas converted (previous vehicle) towing an 18' pop top. Nissan only comfortable to 80kph, beyound this it strugged for perfromance. Fuel usage on petrol was 22l/100k and on Gas 35l/100k. DID with same van, same load and same family averaged 14l/100 on same trip. Was not driving economically as was seeing how bad DID could be (left in drive and used cruise control). Sat 90-100 kph and felt much more secure on road.
Would highly recommend one.
