Had a reason to use the high lift jack on the 04 Triton last week and ended up with a dent in the top bar where the jack mast touched.
The bar is the genuine Mitsubishi, bar and would appear to be about as useful as a plastic bar.
Question: are all bullbars this light or are some of them actually worth putting on?
My last bar was a TJM and it appeared to be heavier in construction an it did not seem to dent or warp.
Anyone had any problem with differrent brand bars?

Hi Bushy,
I was offered the factory bar when I bought my '02 Triton. I had a look at one already fitted to another vehicle and it looked kinda weak, I opted for the ARB unit.

I have used the high lift on mine, through the pockets in the front and no damage occured, mast never came close to touching the top bar. BTW, mine is a steel bar, is yours steel or ally? I wouldn't feel comfortable using it on any of the ally bars I have seen... Not because of any bad experiences, they just don't look up to the task.

When using a highlift angle the mast away from the vehicle. The higher you intend to jack the more you angle it as it straightens as you jack (not sure if this would have avoided the problem. People say they are unstable but when using them on a stuck vehicle they far more stable (because the vehicle is......stuck)
Finally if you can get hublifters for your vehicle (you probably cant) they are far better than using other jacking points

I had the ARB steel winchbar on my Rodeo and never damaged it with a highlift. In fact I have even driven it into trees etc which stalled the vehicle in 1st low and not got even the lightest dent. Only dents in my bar are underneath in the air vent part from big rocks.

Bushy,

We took delivery of a new Triton cab/chassis couple of months ago. Ordered with a genuine Mitsubishi steel bar which the salesmen assured me was built for Mitsubishi by ARB. Checking the bar on delivery found it was way below standard for ARB bars we usually have on our vehicles. Did my own research direct with ARB and found they do not produce a bar for Mitsubishi but do produce a bar that is made for a Triton ute.

Told the dealer to take the Mitsubishi bar off and replace with ARB which he did no problems. ARB Triton bar a beauty.

Philip.
