G'day All,
Just a quicky.....can you mount an air compressor (Bushranger MaxAir in this case) on its side or even upside down and not harm its life??? I know I don't have to worry about lube oil for these cause they don't have any (teflon). Trying to find somewhere to mount it and the best out of the way place is upside down on the roof of my canopy (inside ofcourse). Any comments appreciated.
Cheers,
Hughesy

Yes. Reminds me of the Valiant 225 slant 6 which detracters said it would wear the pistons on the slant side quicker

Yeah strangly enough, I actually thought it would have been the opposite! I guess at work the computer was always with me or I was plonked in front of it, but now I have to actually sit down and take the time out to use the computer.

A slight angle wouldn't worry it but putting it upside down or with the compressor end down might as the heat from the 'head' will heat the motor up quicker which may lead to overheating.
What I did with my Blue Tongue was to hot glue a 12v computer fan to the head which forces air over it and seems to keep it cooler when inflating tyres.

That's a great idea!
When the fan falls off (cause the glue melted) you know the compressor is overheating.
Sorry couldn't help myself:-)
I mounted my ARB unit on it's side under the front passenger
seat. If it is hot enough to cause the compressor problems I will probably have the AC on keeping all things cool.
The Arb unit must have a heat sensor because when it was under the bonnet it would cut out. Particularly if I had been working the old diesel a bit. No probs with it now even on it's side. The old one in th GQ was in the same place for years without a problem.

It's been glued on for years now, it is the original blue tongue so it has been a while, never gets hot enough to melt the glue despite blowing up 37" tyres which hold a huge amount of air.

Naa doesnt happen Peter2 Place I worked last year had all the compressors on all 20 odd cruisers mounted the way you describe and that setup outlasts the cruisers with the trays being swapped onto the new cruisers. The compressers see plenty of action too fixing flats
