Stockton Beach Cleanup Event Sunday 16th October

As much as this is a good thing for the environment etc - I don't believe in this thing as after all the Port Stephens Council slugs us with a fee to access Stockton Beach and reckons all the money raised from the permits goes into it's upkeep etc. What a load of rubbish!!! That's why they get memebrs of the public to go there and do their 'dirty work' for them for free.
Get rid of the permits, fees etc and I would go there as often as needed to help clean up, not just once a year but put this impost on us and they can whistle dixie.

Personally I think you are on the wrong track, especially when the permit cost is $5 a day per vehicle and a yearly one is less then $30!! to access the largest dunefield on the east coast and 20+ k's of beach.
They provide a ranger to patrol the dunes and the permits would go nowhere near covering his wages and vehicle costs.
If they restricted access to those that have done an accredited 4wd course it would be even better, it never ceases to amaze me every time I go up there what stupid things people do in 4wd's
You even get a free lunch and no permit required on the cleanup day and can spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or playing in the dunes.
