Tougher man than me. I got sick of being woken up by stuff crawling on me at 2.00am (ever walked around with a torch and seen exactly how many spiders get around after dark? not to mention the size of the centipedes ) so as I was I had a job that meant
camping out for a week or 2 at a time i did my self a favour and got a 2 hoop style. I have since improved it with a self infating mattress and have spent around 100 nights in it since I got it 1 and a half years ago

Thanks Davoe... I have since thought about the nightlife..insects, spiders, snakes etc.. and reminded myself about sandflies, which really are a nightmare.. so I'm reconsidering the oprions.
by the way, you have some great pics.
Cheers

Ive used both and i reackon definately go the hoop style. Better insect protection, better weather protection .. and much cooler in summer. If you can afford it, get a kingsize rather then a single too. You'll appreciate the extra space when trying to turn over at night in a sleeping bag.

Used my swag 3 times now never had issues with crawlies.. if you get one that zips closed, I cant see how you would have an issue...

Truckster I was refering to the traditional style where you sleep with your head out or just a flap over your head if it is raining. I got sick of the ever present wolf spiders crawling accross my face in the middle of the night

Look for something blonde and naked.
My swag is only one person wide but two people high.

Eerrrmmm! Your wife on your honeymoon?
Hahahahahahah Mr. "B"
I would go for the tent type like Davoe said and make sure the top flap zips right down to your feet and leaves you under sandfly mesh , for the hot nights. Some only zip down half way so you can never keep your feet cool on a hot night.
Cheers Pesty

Well I got two swags from Rays tent city, zips in the top and the end, the end is handy if its warm, or if one is getting claustrophobic, both have fly wire too.
They were cheaper than a top only zippered one I saw elsewhere too.
Good value, tell them youre me and get a discount

I think we have the same ones, we used them in the high country & across the Simpson & found them excellent.
We kept the
Dunlop mattress but put a 10mm "hikers mat" style mattress under it for extra insulation. These are available in the right size, also from Rays.

I have got the A.O.S Bushman-in King single and if what you are looking for is a basic swag then this will suite you fine.
It's nothing fancy no moon window’s flyscreens ETC it is just the standard type swag, It does have the ability if you whish to turn into a tent type, but I have never worried about it oh yeah I am 193cm tall and fit in it no problems.

I saw one today (I think the brand was Cockatoo..?) Made in Qld. that had a removable midgey proof net, and the main flap was wide enough to run a rope through and make a tent if needed. Was pretty heavy canvas, about 15oz had a King Single 50mm mattress. I just thought about those bloody sandflies. Remembered a shocking night at the top end of Curtis Island. All of a sudden the netting looks good. That should keep all those others(snakes & spiders) out too.
I spent a week in a dome swag on Fraser once and it was bloody nice. I kep it zipped up all the time though. Never chanced it to leave the zipper open. Have heard that
Orchid beach has th highest concentration of Funnel Webs on the planet. Have also seen the occasional Brown Snake in the dunes there too. Never found one in my swag though. Didnt find any blondes either...

Make sure it has a PVC bottom on it to stop the bindis sticking to it when you roll it up , it also stops a lot of moisture.
