Hi all, I am heading up around north coast nsw next week and are looking for a caravan
park around Pt Maquarie to set up
camp for a week with kids. Does any one know of a good
park next to
the beach and rivers to put my boat in?????? Thanks Deano.

We stayed at a caravan
park on the Hastings River about 14 years ago but I cant remember what it's called.
It was in the northern part of Port Macquarie and it was a beuatiful
park, large and on the banks of the river and it had a
boat ramp. It was about 3kms from the river mouth from memory.
The Hastings river had plenty of bream on the bite on the turn of the tides too.

The one on the mouth of the river at town beach is in a good location.
You can also head over the river for a
beach drive but need a permit.
But dont tell everyone about what you find up the other end.
All the best
Eric
Take it easy and keep it open

The one at the mouth of the river is the Sundowner. Big, noisy, ugly & expensive. But if you must holiday in a big town like Pt Mac there's plenty of choice. Much nicer is further north at Crescent Head, and better still are several Nat
Park sites in between Pt Mac and Cres Head. The road is a bit pot-holed but several camps on
the beach.
Point Plomer is the big fave and not too crowded out of school hols.

deano we stayed at the Edgewater Caravan
Park 2 years ago. Sites were ok, with a
camp kitchen and a very small beach on the river. The big attraction was the onsite
boat ramp. Unfortunately, they didn't tell us the swimming pool was out of action due to renovation works (it's now heated according to the website). Anyway, you can get to their website by googling 'edgewater port macquarie'.
regards,
Rob.

Hi Deano,
We have just got back from Port Macquarie, we stayed at the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist
Park. Great for kids of all ages. We were on a powered grass site right down the end of the
park and it was fantastic. Bike
park, playground and skate ramp adjacent to caravan
park. Breakwall right along caravan
park for fishing off. Walk to town etc, great location.
