I have a Pardo 98 with roof rack and storage drawers which drops the rear down slightly under normal conditions ,but when fully laden it drops further, then the camper trailer goes on. So I am looking at renewing my springs and shockers.
Have heard Peddlers are good, been around for a while.
Have been suggested to try the extra medium/heavy springs and bigger foam cell shocks which could lift it about 3inches.
Any further comments or should we go with polyair bags in
the springs as
well to assist and should we change the front as
well even it its not warranted.
Waiting your responses.
thankyou,
Papa smurf

We have the same 4by, with
cargo drawers, roof rack and 60L
water system. Our first trip fully loaded our rear basically bottomed out.
When we got home turned out
the springs we had were standard and not the heavey duty we request when we upgraded our
suspension. We had heavy duty springs put in and they carry the load fine. We were worried about about the rear feeling too hard around town when we're not carrying a full load but that's been fine.
We have OME 2" lift, haven't had any problems.

Also have a 90 series Prado and had the same symptoms with the roof rack, second spare, caping gear, fridge, generator, 50 litres of
water, drawers fillied with Tirfor, chains, etc and usually towing a boat or caravan. Replaced the rear springs with heavy duty XPG (TJM brand) and had a set a polyairs fitted. What a difference.
One of the best investments.

Hi
We have a 2001 TX and did a springs, airbag and shocker upgrade before going to
Cape York last month. Originally put Lovell's MD springs on rear with Firestone bags. fine around town and back in VIC but did not last up the top. Bag got a hole in it and then
the springs compressed to about 1cm clearance when loaded! Origanally went for this as worried about round town hardness with HD springs - my decision no fault of Lovell's
So changed rear springs to Lovell's HD but could not fix the bags so removed them. Seemed to handle OK with the occaisional bottom out - we were heavily loaded, about 3T I guess.
Have Koni adjustable shocks all round.
Lesson Learned - Use airbags as an "assist" only to
suspension - do not rely on as part of the overall
suspension solution.
We upgraded the front at the same time just to keep the car level.
