hi dean08it
the size of the tent you are talking about is for staying at one place for 4 weeks plus is this you want to do i would say this is not a tent to pack up every night

Why do you need such a massive tent?
as for average
campsite, that depends where you are.. High country you should have no probs, but getting the triaxle trailer in with the tent on it and
parking the 10 other cars full of people maybe an issue.

Make sure the triaxle has a hoist. Also if it doesn't have an ensuite in the main bedroom it's not worth buying.

We stayed in a tent of about that size on
the beach at Fraser a few years ago. Was a fair job to set up, but we stayed there for 2 weeks. It was awesome. We had up to 8 or more people there some nights. Cant say I would like to go through the set up and pull down too often. But if there are a few of you, and you are staying for a while, it would be great. Keep in mind after your trip, you might need to set it up again to clean and air it, so allow for that as
well.
If you think that is a big set up, then you should see what sort of camps you see at the Toyota Fishing Expo at Fraser Is each year. Some crews send an advance party up, 2 weeks prior, to set up
camp. You need to see these camps to believe it.
Maybe 2 smaller tents might be an option..? That way if you are heading off with just 2 of you, you dont need to take the Taj Mahal with you also.
Just a thought...

We used to go
camping as a family (total of 5 + stragglers) in a 12' x 18' x 6-8' high conventional sized tent. Took a bit to set up but worth it for the three weeks per year.
Most
camping grounds are not really set up for that sized tent after you factor in the extra room needed for guy ropes and general movement areas around the tent. This is not as much of an issue with caravans as there is only the annex to support on one side.
Given the tent will be quite large folded up, have you considered towing a trailer for it? It does make packing the tent up in the rain a bit quicker (throw it all in, chuck a tarp over it, and sort it out when you get home). Another thing to consider is how many ppl it wil take to lift it in/out of the vehicle and generally manoever around.
Another realistic possibility is a camper trailer. Yes, more expensive, but already has most mod-cons built in and packs up more easily and quikly than a large tent.

Will it fit on an average
campsite . . . Yes . . . But.
Our Canvas Cabin tent was 24ft X 12ft , and we never had a problem actually fitting it on a site , but , you very rarely could then fit the Vehicle and or Trailer there as
well. They were often parked in the Visitors area . . . not a real good thing to keep an eye on things.
It was/is an exceptional tent , and went through a couple of major storms/cyclones , with very few problems.
It is NOT a quick setup , ie , weekend , its long weekend , week stays minimum. They are bloody heavy , and usually , if you need a tent that size , you tow a trailer.
We gave up , and dome tents , and bought a Campertrailer.

Hi,
We also have a tent (canvas) of the same size, we have never had a problem fitting it on a
camp site, however I have to agree that it is very heavy and it does take time to set up, we got it down to an hour to fully set up. We eventually went to a large dome tent of similar size to cut down on overall size and weight and just recently upgraded to a CT.
Having a large tent is great if there are a few of you and especially if you get bad weather, however it isn't the sort of thing you would use unless you were staying for at least a few nights.
Just my opinion for what its worth.
