Hi All,
I am looking at exploring Mt Mee as a day trip for fun 4x4ing, day trip for fishing, and possily weekend
camping spot to take the family.
From what I have read on the area, 4x4ing is good in the area, but I am not sure about other activities that can be done there.
I was wondering if there are parts of this area that I could do the following:
- locations to do fishing (I am still a novice at this and trying to master plastic's)
-
camping near a
creek or watering hole so the kids can swim near the
campsite safely.
If anyone has the gps co-ordinates of good spots, I can insert them into oziexplorer to get a better understanding of this area. Or if anyone has any
track logs they could share, this would be appreciated also.
Thanks in advance for all your advice / assistance.

Hey Tony,
There's a coupla
treks in the Dirty Weekends book for SE Qld - they're pretty tame tracks but have some nice
views. One of the tracks is fairly steep in some sections. I have no idea about fishing but there are two campsites in the Mt Mee SF Area - Mt Archer and Neurum Ck. One of them (can't remember which one - check on Naturally QLD website) is only small - 9 campsites - and has a nice
waterhole for swimming. Stayed there a coupla times and loved it! Pretty sure you need a permit to traverse though but they are free from Nat QLD also. As for the GPS I think (but don't quote me on it) they also have GPS coordinates in the Dirty Weekends book. And by the way, I am in no way affiliated with "Dirty Weekends" haha!
Have fun

Tony,
Archer River is the
campsite that's been mentioned. You will need a permit to access it though. They're free through Sunmap at the Gabba, just take your licence and rego papers. It's a good little campground, easy access, has
toilets and facilities for your own bush shower. Didn't see much in the way fo 4wd tracks in the area though. The swimming area is great for kids but don't know about the fishing and don't know what the
water level would be like because of the drought.

If you find any fish on Mt. Mee tell the world as it would be like the second coming of Jesus ,, you will find lots of old unmarked overgrown tracks ,walking and vehicle , ex army training ground from 70s to 80s , can be VERY dangerous in parts with old man traps and unexploded ordinance that can kill,,, stick to the marked tracks .....

Make a long week-end of it, and head to Lake Monduran about 20 klms north west of
Gin Gin. (Also known as Fred
Haig dam)
Well stocked dam - incl barramundi. Take 40lb line and half a doz gold lures.
You'll need them (and you'll probably lose them all).
Camp ground is brilliant, full facilities and safe for kids - but for a deposit of $20 you get a key to a
gate into some 4WD
camp sites - if you prefer the solitude.
Yes it is a bit of a drive, but worth it.
