Evening Col,
We just insured our new camper for $20,000 with Weston QBE and thats cost us around the $315 p.a with an excess of around the $150.
Hope that helps a bit.

Col,
I can see this is question is going to give you many and varied answers. I insure my camper trailer with SGIO, no problems so far "touch wood", seemed to be a much of a muchness re cost. I insure my vehicles with SGIO plus home and contents, get a bit more of a discount. every bit helps. I've had one claim with SGIO looked after promptly and no issues.

I always find it intriguing that the camper that may only get used 4 to six weeks a year and put in the locked shed each day can cost nearly as much to insure as the family driver that is on the city streets everyday of the year and is at risk of damage 24 hours per day.

Hi David,
You hit the nail on the head $915 - $455 so far is what we have been quoted on $36,600 .My landcruiser 02 t/d GXL is only $600 ish to insure so I guess they like to get there money back some how.

I can't remember how much my insurance is with RACQ but I do know that if it is being driven it is totally covered etc but contents are only for $500 from memory.. as far as theft of gear etc goes it has to be locked for it to be insurable.. if the tent is up and someone goes into the tent it isn't covered but if it is locked up and they do then it is.... if that makes sense to you.
Cheers

Thanks for the advice one insurer (GIO) I think said they would cover camper even though you could not lock every thing up to a max of $500 for contents.

I have a close mate who was working for a broker he has always said have both the camper and car with the same company when it all goes wrong you don't have a chit fight between companys as to which co. is going to pay eg. if a wheel comes off the trailer and causes the car to get damaged who or which co. pays
hope that makes sence Kev

Kev ,
Sounds like good advice from your mate. My car insurer is very competitive with all the quotes I have got so maybe a deciding factor.
Quotes so far $915 - $455 on a value of $36,600 to replace camper.
