Hi All
Just fitted a Dtronic to my 3.0 litre GU IV STL Auto and contrary to what some people are saying it has provided a marked increase in power and torque. I have not done a full tank of fuel since fitting it so I cannot comment on the fuel consumption.
I am going up to the Flinders Ranges this weekend with the off road caravan so I will soon find out what the fuel consumption will be.
While I am up their I have to go up to Mt Caernarvon to do some work so I will run around SkyTrek a couple of times so that should also give me an idea on the performance off road as well.
So far its been the best $1300 that I have spent on the new Patrol.

Cheers
Treker

ditto...
It seems to also make a noticable difference to downhill engine braking, more torque i spose...1st gear low range i mean...
Power increase was great but now i am used to it...

How on earth can it make a difference to the engine braking? It obviously can increase the 'power on' torque by modifying fuel delivery (volume/timing etc). When you are engine braking, presumably with your foot is off the throttle, surely its just the same air pump as before the d'Tronic was fitted.

Must be the Feng Shui effect which makes your Karma feel better and therefore the impossible becomes believable.

Treker,
I am about to fit a Dtronic to my GU 3lit. Can you tell me how long it took to install and did you get a dyno tune on fitting.
I have heard some great reports on these units being fitted to the 3lit models.
You sound happy with it.
Enjoy your trip this weekend.
Regards
Tracker

Tracker, I've had mine now for quite awhile and they are they best accessory for the 3L. It took me a whole ten minutes to fit - dead easy, just plug and play.
Regards, Craig.

Hi Tracker.
As Craig D says. 10 min's to fit. Just need a 10 mm spanner.
We've had ours on 2002 3ltr for over 80K now. Tow a 6.5mtr off-road caravan mostly.
Makes it a different car. No effect on economy. But at least one more gear mid range.
A snorkel helps too. The Safari seems better than the Nissan one, from reports..
Only thing I can think of to improve it. Will be the 6.5ltr V8 chevvy I drop in. When the 3 ltr pups itself.
Regards and enjoy.
MAcka...

Ken
I just did the ring around of the outlets that handle them and bounce the price off of each other until I got the best price.

Craig,
I have the snorkel fitted and you have all made my mind up for me re the dtronic.
Did you get a dynotune done after the dtronic was fitted?
I'm going to do both so fitting costs have been looked after as they should be.
Much thanks

I have a series three auto extremely similar to yours. A whole one KW lower in power. DOH!!

They really work however mine did increase fuel use from 11L/100 round town to 12.5L/100. I will be trying for economy again soon with it removed just to prove the airflow meter hasn't s*it itself.

Wouldn't trade mine for the world, easy to fit and easy to remove for servicing by dealer.

I was lucky to get mine on ebay for $700.00

The biggest difference I noted was when using cruise control and getting up hills on motorways. Pre dtronic, the cc would struggle to stay on, but with the dtronic it all hangs together much more nicely.

It seems ridiculous that these beasties aren't std issue with the 3l GU.

Same to report as everyone else. I was probably a mug for paying the full $1500 at ARB, but would now consider it a bargain at twice that price. Doesn't seem to have affected my fuel consumption, but the power difference is quite noticeable particularly when moving off from a standing start.
