Bushy,
I got that letter about 4 weeks ago. I have an '03 GLX double cab with near on 90,000km on the clock... I didn't see the worth as I will undoubtedly cross over the km limit before I do the full time. My missus read the fine print and thought it was a bit tight also...

Have you had any troubles with the vehicle?
We will be extending the warranties on our F250s and it will be worth every cent many times over due to their bleep poor reliability.
However even on my ever reliable Rodeo it was worth the extra warranty as they paid for a new clutch slave cylinder and
water pump. Even though they are really service items I would have thought. Especially when they were done around the 100 000km mark.

The vechile has had no trouble that is a warrantie item as yet, so I might hold of for a while and see what everyone has to say

Yes I got it last week as
well for our Challenger and threw it in the bin rapidly. I had taken a warranty like this in the past and found out later in the fine print that most of the items likely to have a problem with or that are costly were not covered and also the warranty was void if I was not doing the service with them and they were doing a "special" service at more than $240. For that "special" service they were checking the air cond was running OK and the windscreen whiper
water tank was not empty, but they did not include the manufacturer's service item to be done as per the manual. Since then I don't think much of dealer's extra warranty, but can't say about Mitsubishi since I didn't read theirs.
If you really consider taking it make sure you read the fine prints and what it involves exactly and then you can see if it's worth it or not.
Rgds,
Sly.

Followed your suggestion and it would appear that this warranty in not transferable so it would appear worthless if you were to sell the vechile.

Smells of "value adding".
They sell you the vehicle cheaper than they should, then sell you the insurance policy, (which they will rarely have to honour) to make up the difference. Same as floor mats, headlight protectors, paint protection, fabric protection, etc., when you buy a new car. Total real value of those products would be less than $20 in the qtys they buy them, yet they will happily sell them to you for $250, "Maybe we could knock a bit off the cost of the extras..". The psychology of selling leads you into thinking that you have bargained
well.
JB Hifi do the same thing down here for electrical goods (try getting them to take any action on your behalf with beligerant manufacturers like LG and Samsung, that don't/won't even honour their basic, legally enforcable warranty... JB: "not our problem, the extended warrany only starts after the manufacturers warranty finishes". BTW this happened to my sister).

Without seeing the fine print on the warranty its hard to know whether Mitsubishis is any good. I bought the extended warranty from Nissan on my Patrol last year and it has paid for itself 3 times over thanks to a new airconditioner and some repairs to the rear brakes. I'd definately get the Nissan one again.
That being said, I had a 97 Triton before the Patrol that i traded with 230000km on it (130000 of that
mine) and never had a major repair on it. Would'nt have got a cent out of an extended warranty if id bought one.
