Thanks to all who offered help with how to get the smell of rotten bait out of the fridge. The smell has now gone, I am not sure what actually got rid of the smell but I used the tea bags, fridge freshener spray, bi-carb in the fridge for a week and regular washes with vanilla essence.
A very valuable lesson has been learnt, don't lend your fridge to anyone.
Regards
Steve

What did you do with the tea bags, just throw them in the fridge or put them in wet or ? Where they standard ones or any particualr type?
My fridge still smells of the vanilla fridge spray i used to clean it.
