Neighbour spotted me this am.."Have a listen to this" He threw me in his new rig, shut door with glass up.."Now start it,rev it !" ..Un-believable ! Whisper quiet..This is a Merc designed V-6 turbo-diesel sitting in a good, practical sized 4x4 that he bought to haul a horse tandem float/trailer the long distances from
Emerald to
Roma 341kms ea way over the mountain range..(sport) Reckons the rig hardly even notices to load..Passing a double sem with no trailer, starting at 100,pulls out, doing 150 by time he is past prime mover.(On N.T.roads of course,officer)..Economy h/way av 8.5Ltr 100..Wow! I just have to save my shillings for one of those Jeep Cherokee Lareados..Priced way under the others too..All manafactured in Germany under diredt control of "3 pointed star" He traded his Jeep Cherokee KJ turbo-dsl 60,000kms.Never spent a dollar on it four years towing horses.Still had original tyres and battery.Guess I'll do one more Vic hi-country trip early '06 and trade it at 110,000klms..(Bet this stirs the possum ;-) Sh-Sh Sh-Rosco!!MPG:3!

That's the one that, when on the tight switchbacks in the Hi-Country,can turn the corners on the move, while the oversized rigs that are guzzling someone else's diesel, have to "back 'n fill" often twice to get going and of course, having had to stop, have now lost momentum,so,fighting for traction and often need a push to get going in the moist conditions..I have a DVD I took of ten people all pushing one of these monsters up a just moist slope..(The rig in question had to have $700 spare wheel carrier fitted to get it out from underneath, before it was even allowed on the adventure,as this was not just a trip down to the school to pick up the kids.)!MPG:6!

I also believe they are the ones with the same resale value as Lada Niva's.

Yeah Rosco, jus knew you'd be waiting in the wings..Maybe I should jus bite the bullet 'n go Def..Something you mite be interested in to mate, found a old tape I must have "raided"off tv way back..(time shifted :-) Is of Jack Absolum in his desert survival trips in his trusty, wait for it,two wheel drive car..Just full of top tips, even for us who have had fair bush experience..Will work on putting it to DVD,possibly dual layer.(He saved me a beauty, just recently, when some idiot, about my size, poured what he thought was a jerrycan of UL into
tank on little Misz 1 ton..
Water!..Droppe it out thru plug in bottom..As you,no doubt, you don't get it all out..Filled it up with UL this time, and using one of Jack's tips, put a whack of metho in..The little 2.4 Ltr injected motor never missed a beat..Thanks Jack! Want a DVD when I do it Rosco? Yell! Have fun:RockyOne

Done!..But wait! There's a hitch..I'm waiting for a decent DVD double layer burner to come on the market at a sensible price..Must do - & + ..Prefer one that has in-built VCR to DVD..Any you "techno's" out there aware of one, give us a yell please..Not that it's holding up a good man.Jus me:-)..I don't want to run it thru my computors first,as I know I just can't leave things alone, will start to edit it,modify things, next thing, another Christmas rolls by..Have fun mate! Disco3 has V6 diesel as
well. Figures not as impressive as the Merc unit but not bad, with V8 diesel coming soon. Way of the future, we'll see alot more of them.
Toyota will retire the 1HZ and bring one in say around 2048. #8->
