Decided to Head out to
Plumridge lakes Friday so I checked out the map and decided heading NE of kal and skirting the bottom edge of lake Minigwal and heading due east to the
Nature reserve looked like the track least travelled.
Saturday night I camped to the NE of Gwynne
creek after finding a crossing and was treated to an awsome thunderstorm for about 5 hours with some incredible rumbling thunder that just wouldnt stop and kept rumbling like a train.
Next morning i was relieved to find only a few inches on the
creek crossing and proceeded a short way before
parking on top of a dune under a marble gum.
Suddenly the radio crackled into life- It was Phil G and his convoy of turbo diesal 79 traybacks . I met up with him and his freinds at Sandlewood cutters
Junction where we spent the Evening yarning and camped. Next morning he gave me some fuel as it looked like I might have been cutting it a bit fine for the return (lack of proper planning) and we made our way to the Transline via the Cable haul Road where we bade farewell as I headed West and he East
Been meeting a few EO regulars lately and its been a pleasure.

wasnt quite that bad when i realised i was cutting it fine i did many scenarios and the conclusion i came to was me getting into town with the
orange light on which was exactly what happened however the extra fuel gave peace of mind. it was a brain fade however as I would have poked around more with extra fuel.
As for being fair dinkum. Naa I am just a tryhard who relys on posts from you to learn everything I know (is that my problem???)

didnt do the pnc base line as i was looking for a more remote way of getting there From what I saw it was at least as good as the tracks i took which were some of the best i have donwe with no corrogations and even a 100 can make it down with barly a leaf touching the side

Hi Richard,
We were the ones that caught up with Davoe out the middle of nowhere :-)) We came from
Laverton along the
Lake Rason road, and dropped down to
Plumridge Lakes, then south via Cable Haul Road; in the past I've come out to the Connie Sue. On all occasions, these tracks were in excellent condition. Many of the sandalwood cutters tracks within Plumridge haven't had much use for years and are pretty overgrown, while others have been restored by recent mining exploration.
I averaged 12.1 l/100k on these tracks - best I've recorded.
Cheers
phil

Yep surprising who you meet in the bush. On our recent trip up north we ran into
Malcolm Douglas, Ernie
Dingo and the Channel 9 Postcards crew. I was starting to think we were on a celebrity tour of the
Kimberley.

Hi Davoe,
we just got back yesterday. Had to slum it in a couple of motel rooms on the way back as the weather was pretty bad.
Glad to hear you made it back to Kal OK.
Cheers

Thanks for the fuel I made it back but it was fairly close without the reserve. I continued west after we parted for about 10 min but decided if I still hadnt found a crossing by Ponton
creek it would make a pretty long way back. After finding the crossing you took I looked at the
Plumridge lakes info you gave me and it was all there. The Transline was pretty wet and I helped a guy with a trashed road gripper on his way to some R and R from the Loongana Quarry. Spent hours cleaning the wagon - they have sooo many more hidey holes than the utes for mud to get
