I have a 2004 Navara and have only just discovered that with the factory steel bull bar that my ARB shackles will not fit on the recovery eyes. The bash plate bracket is attached with a bolt that is in line with the recovery eye. The bolt gets in the way of the pin end of the shackle and will not allow the pin to be threaded into the shackle.

Just thought I'd let you all know before you end up to your armpits in mud trying to get a snatch strap hooked up.

Luckily I tried it before a "lets get bogged" outing!

I've booked mine in for some hooks or recovery eyes that are aligned with the chassis to get past this one!

Correction - Navare should read Navara - not in France now!

My factory front hook is also unusable on my TF Rodeo with my ARB winch bar installed. However there are two positions (one either side) on the bar which will take a standard recovery hook.
When ARB installed my bar I didn't realise for a little while that they had taken my front hook. Lucky I never needed recovering during that time. Pretty annoying. Especially considering they kept the hook. The stupidest part is you would think it would be the perfect time for them to add another sale and say "We have to remove your factory tow hook to install the bar. Would you like us to install a new one on your new bar?" Considering they sell them for about $18 and they could even sell you two. That's another $36 in their pocket. Plus fitting of course :-)

They're probably too busy counting the money they make on the bullbar to think of customer service!

Hmmmm! sounds like a angle grinder along with the mindset of 'Michae Angelo with Steel' wouldn't go astray.

Can I ask where you have booked in to?

I went into TJM last week to book my navarra in for recovery hooks and basically got chased out the door - the sales guy pretty much implied that I was a moron because I didn't want to drill the holes myself. I was very disgusted with TJM as I had just spent well over $2000 there about two weeks previously. I also wanted a replacement UHF aerial, they have a display in store with the component I wanted priced at $22, he wasn't going to order one in for me so he actually told me to go across the road to Dick Smith.

Sorry to hijack the thread - I just want to find somewhere I can get recovery points fitted.

Actually going to TJM in Perth!

And yes you're right - they didn't have any hooks in stock - I'm patient - but they can only test that so far!
