Having read earlier posts on the benefits experienced by installing bigger exhaust sytems, I am interested in pursuing this further.. can any one offer advice on benefit gained versus cost incurred by adding a larger exhaust onto a 05 2.4TD?
Also any one recommend a reputable exhaust manufacturers in
Adelaide?

If you get a 3" system from the back of the turbo (dump pipe is important) you will get an increase in power and economy. This can be further improved with a tune by a diesel specialist (fuel pump and waste
gate settings plus injector timing). I would say the 3" exhaust is easily the best mod I have had done to my patrol. Sorry can't help with an exhaust supplier in SA.

I agree with what warthog says.
I had my 3" system made locally here in Kadina by Reads Mechanical & Exhaust Centre. They ordered in the required mandrel bends and pipe and Lukey hotdog and welded it all up within a day or 2.
I used a dump pipe from Binskins of
Wauchope, NSW.
I'm happy with my system, but if I was doing it again I reckon I'd just go for one of the
Beaudesert ones that are advertised in the 4x4 mags.

Ring MTQ in SA or nearest outlet and get them to order one. They come from
Toowoomba I think. Should be about $700 give or take as supply only. Can easilly be fitted at home if you are careful not to break the studs on rear of turbo. Use plenty of penetrating agent and some care. I replaced these also for a few dollars more whilst I was at it but you dont wanna break em.
I did this to my 04 ST-s and it is the best movney I have ever spent on it.
