Not very good coverage over majority of Oz.
Usability depends on when the satelite last did a pass over a particular area. I have'nt registerd it and when I first used it my place was just a green blur, no detail at all. After a couple of months, suddenly it's as clear as....
They obviously upgraded some maps in my area.
Don't think paying your money is any gaurentee of detail (:-~

Sam,
The trip to the tip great. The fishing at Seisia off the wharf was realy good. I enjoyed driving the Frenchmans track to Chili Beach.
No dramas that hammer couldn't fix. Can't wait get up there again.
Dave.

Well, it does tell you that the SAME primary source is used for all versions.
For an annual $20.-you get an extra 400 pixel printing definition and GPS data of the images, you decide if its worth that.
Myself, I'm happy with the free version.

You can also try the other free image program (NASA world wind), at some areas you get perfect images there where Google world just shows a blur ( Montebello islands) but I'm often getting a 'server not available' message with world wind once zoomed in for a closer look.

I paid the $20 for Google, mainly because you can upload from your GPS . The resolution around the capital cities etc is exceptional but get out into the rural areas and they are still low resolution. I use the free version of Google at work and to be honest can't really pick the difference in resolutions. I can't see the value in paying unless you want the GPS capability

Well $20 is hardly the biggest committment you'll ever make. I took the risk and must admit the co-ordinates are handy. $20 doesn't get any clearer though. Don't know what you get for $400, maybe much better clarity? Dunno. But $20 ---> $400 is a bit of a jump. I'd be a bit cranky if I couldn't check if the lawn needs mowing for that outlay.
