Well, it was a tough trip but worth it. Due to recent local rain the
wildflowers were out, what a beautiful sight to see
the desert blanketed in purple, yellow and white. Other parts were bone-dry. The mobile red sanddunes in the eastern part were quite impressive. The 4wdriving is not that challenging, the slow going over 7 days mostly in 2nd or 3rd gear low (sometimes even in 1st) drove us mad, but the beautiful desert camps made up for it. We used 190 l of diesel (100 LC turbo), got 1 stake but luckily no vehicle problems (other cars in the group were not that lucky). People tend to forget the bad things over time, so we might even do the trip again, in a few years time...... maybe......
Thanks again to Phil for all his tips, loved your trip story in the 4wheeling SA.
Definitely would not do the trip on a motorbike, too tough with all
the humps.
Cheers, Tom

And did you talk to Macca all over australia while on the trip.
All the best

Tom,
Good to hear that the trip went
well for you.
I'll probably be doing it again next year, and would be interested in more detail about how your trip went.
Can I ask:
#1 Where did you get last fuel. I'm guessing you used 190litres from Mt Dare/
Birdsville.
What route did you take?
What vehicle issues did the others have?
Can send it offline if you like:

Cheers
Phil

We are looking at doing the trip, if its the one I think it is, Doing all Madigans
Camp Sites, from Mt Dare through to Big Red. We would probably do it in revers, and would love to hear anything you have to add about the trip.. EG Vehicles used, route taken, is there a worn track starting to show out there (hope not) Did you have to get permission for any of the area's (Iknow
Camp Sites 3, 4 & 5 are out of bounds)
Am wondering did it lack a challenge because of firmer sand with wild flowers around, we did the Simpson last year and it was like a sunday drive compared to 6 years ago after a long dry spell.
You can email me direct if you like at: blazesport@tsn.cc
