Thanks Utemad and Seadog for your reassuring posts.I had the vehicle RAA checked and was found to be in showroom condition- I could see that but a bit of piece of mind. With only 57k genuine it should be too. Will be the last 4x4 I will be buying, still got that 25 year old go in me , but still love the bush and a beer and a good bottle of red around a campfire with friends and family. I have had people (1 with a 100 sreies) want to swap !!. She will be tested to the max fromm June on next year. Any other comments welcome- good or bad. Regards Nick.

Hi Nick, The only problem with the multivalve TD is sluggish off the mark. If you live in WA take it to United Fuel Inj and they will tweek it for you. It is all done on a dyno and done correctly. $ depend on dyno time, 200-300$. It is well worth getting done.

Hope this helps Steve

I have a similar vehicle , had pump & injectors serviced at MTQ ,Regency Park - great results and flat spot on take off completely gone - running 35's towing a camper no probs.
Great service , even adjusted the tappets plus before & after dyno tests

Hi
There is a similar model on ebay at the moment, it is starting at 20, but has 26900 on the window as a sale price.....now, the reason im telling you this is because it has 259000kms on it. Now this is a good buy, but yours was a better buy, because this 96 will need c/v's and maybe an injecter pump and injecters, and maybe a new gearbox soon.....how do u put a price on not having to fix but just maintain a cruiser for 200,000kms?? and if it comes time to sell, it will sell easier and for more with lower kms.
In other words, you have bought piece of mind for the next 200k kms or 9-10 years

Thanks Dozer,I payed big bucks for a 7/97 80series but its got the lot of extras and has never been off bitumen, only towed a small caravan long distances ie Adelaide Darwin, Adelaide perth, Adelaide cairns etc. Was only registered for 3 months each year and then put on blocks until holidays next year. Wouldnt it be good to have that much spare loot!! I am absolutely wrapped. Regards Nick.
