We have a new series 4 GU and that constant beeping when the key is left in is driving me crazy. Does anyone know a way to remove the buzzer?
Cheers
Justin

Hi H20,
I have a GU and the only time the buzzer sounds is when you leave your lights on!..have you?...better the buz than a flat battery or keys locked in the truck.

Thanks for the reply guys but they don't solve my problem - and yes it is because the key is left in there. I work on properties and removing the key or shutting the door is a pain (as we have to hear the 2way etc) - I just thought there may be a way to remove it. My father has a Ford Courier with the same problem and the dealer removed the buzzer and problem solved. I new lock the vehicle anyway so I am not concerned about locking keys in the car.

Justin - mate I empathise. As a fellow GU IV owner, it annoys the crap out of me too, so I'll watch this thread with interest for a useful solution.

wouldn't it be easier to rewire the radio so it is on without the ignition?

Or stick some heavy duty 100mph tape over the switch, so the truck "thinks" the door is shut all the time. If tape won't hold it, you could use a small bracket and tech screw it on to the B pillar to squash the switch inward 100% of the time.

Know what you are going through, key in ign on acc, cd/radio on to listen to some tunes, all doors open to hear them, and this annoying beep, beep, beep, beep. I had a suzuki XL 7 did the same thing. Drove me nuts too. Went to local auto elec, but he said it is too 'electronic' for him and that to go to a specialist who fits radios, car alarms, that sort of thing.
$50.00 - fixed. He removed the buzzer.
One side effect, the same buzzer warned you headlights were on when you removed the key. (On the XL7)
For the curious, the buzzer is the size of a thimble with two steel "wires" coming out the end, definitely eletronic for it to go on some sort of circuit board somewhere behind the dash.
Good luck
Regards
Alan

Have just bought new GU and have also had the 'pleasure'.. perhaps the $8.00 manula on CD as mentioned inone of the other posts may show a wiring diagram that will show us how to disconnet the door from the buzzer leavingthe "light on" warning in tact..
one consolation is the patrols and cruisers sold in the Middle East come with standard speed alert.. similar but loader beeping constantly for any speed over 110.. not oo much of a worry in the NT with open speed limits.. but inthe Middle East where you get run over if your only doing 110.. it's bloody annoying.. I was tempted to take a hammer to the dash to "fix" it after 3 hours of it..

It's certainly an annoying problem & i've been thinking about having a look under the dash to see if i can find the beeper but haven't got around to it yet.

It's probably easier to disconnect it at the door end - not sure what's involved there though.

I've found the only way to avoid the beeping is to leave the key in the "on" position

Hi,

I have gone on a search behind the dash for this annoying item, seems to reside above the steering column (near that flasing red light) - a small round device with two legs, A piezo sound generator I believe.

Tried to get the Nissan service techs to show me where it was - to be honest I dont think they had a clue.

Think the simplest way to do it will be to disconnect the door switch but this will also disable the interior light - not the best option so I am currently looking at the wiring diagrams to work out where it breaks off for the door light and that damn buzzer. Would rather cut one of those legs to disable the buzzer.

I will add to this post as soon as I locate it.

H20 just leave the key on the accessories position and it wont beeeeep, no need to go pulling out buzzers, remember its the same buzzer that reminds you that your lights have been left on and no need to go drilling brackets into the car...

Babs...
