The last 2 out of 4 times I filled up with LPG the auto shut off didn't work.
The second time was yesterday. The filling slowed right down so I had a look at the gauge on the
tank and it was at 100% capacity.
Interestingly, it started doing this 2 weeks ago after having my dented long range petrol
tank replaced with a new one.
I cant see how that would affect the AFL but it seems a bit strange........you know.....you take your vehicle in for service and it comes out with another problem
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks Boo. That's the same notice they have plastered over every LPG pump in the country.
I'll check my
tank in the daylight to see if it has that dodgy pressure relief vavle.

Mine overfills every fill. Had it re-tested 18 months ago and told them about this. Nothing to worry about they said, all checked out ok. My
tank takes 115lt. Go figure???

Hi All,
Just wanted to tell you about some work l have done on this subject:
When filling the tanks, are you using the same filling station time after time and thus getting the same overfill issue?
In my work, we found that even when a fully working system fitted to a vehicle was filled at a filling station with a low lpg delivery pump pressure the chance of an overfill was virtually evertime. Taking the same vehicle to a new filling station with higher pump pressure provided expected results - the AFL shut off correctly.
We contacted the Authorities about this. Amazingly there is no control over the pump pressure at filling stations.
There was heaps more work undertaken than this, resulting in us instrumenting a test vehicle to monitor all the necessary pressures to develop evidence.
However this is basically our conclusion.
This may not be your problem, but l wouldn't blame the vehicle system straight away. Do some subjective assessments at old and new garages.
Hope this helps

Beast of Bodmin,
thanks for investigating this issue. I'm concerned because I always thought that the pump should stop pumping when the LPG
tank reaches about 80% capacity (to leave room for expansion) regardless of the pump pressure. Isn't that what the AFL is supposed to do? eg: the valve shuts off supply to the
tank then a sensor in the pump shuts off the pump?
The 2 times
mine overfilled was at 2 different servo's, 300kms. from each other, a week apart and both those times it was pumping slow.
The other 2 times the pumps were pumping normally.
'Tis one of lifes little mysteries to me
