Hi all,
Just noticed something weird with my GU Patrol and would be interested if anyone else has seen this problem. It's a 2003 3.0TD Auto with 74,000klm's.
When the car is at its normal operating temperature and in
Park, the idle speed is around 1100-1200 RPM's, it should be idling at 650-750RPM's. If the car is put into Drive, the rev's drop down to around 650-750 RPM's.
When the car is cold it idles correctly when in
Park. Problem seems to appear when the car warms up.
Lucky it's under warranty, back to the dealer!
Thanks
Phil P

G'day Phil,
Sounds like you've got the engine warmer button on. On my 2005 Patrol it's on the right side of the steering wheel, under the air vent. When you put it on, the engine idles high to warm up quicker. When you put the Auto in Drive, the revs drop down to normal.
Thanks,
Aaron.

Hi Aaron,
I made sure it is off !
When in
Park and the high rev's happen, the switch has no effect, but when in Drive it does inrease the RPM's so I'm assuming the switch is working ok !

Phil P,
The "Heat" switch shouldn't increase the revs in Drive, only in Neutral and
Park.

Phil,
If the revs are increasing in Drive, & the switch doesn't make any difference to the revs in
Park, then something seems awry.
Sorry I don't know what the problem is.
Aaron.

Wife took the car to Nissan, all fixed using a hand held computer in just a couple of minutes. No parts required & no charge !
