I was at the 4WD show in Melbourne on the weekend and noticed these "Mosquito clickers" for sale. They look a bit like the little green pizo's that are used in BBQ's/stoves and when you apply them (click them!) to bites, they are meant to relieve the itching and reduce swelling etc...

Anyone tried these - do they work?

The Mosiquito clickers work really well.
They take away the itch and swelling from an insect bite.
They also work great on sand flies, midges, ants, jellyfish, horse flies etc.
They have had huge sucess in Europe.

Don't know why people always seem to jump on the "snake-oil" train when something new pops up.

Jeez - "a...what did you call it... airplane? Sounds like a stupid idea. It would never get off the ground and would be about as useful as a hiclone"......

;)

We have one of these gizmos (came with something else we bought), and I'm not sure whether it's psychosomatic or not - but it seems to work. Maybe it's just that it hurts like hell that you forget about the bite itself.

Make a cross in the centre of the bite with the corrugated edge of a stubbie cap. Press hard. I think this works (true!).

If it doesn't work, open another one and try a fresh lid. Keep going until itching stops:-)

I Bought one at the Caulfield Caravan Show because I am very allergic to Mossies and thought this might do the trick for me. After using it for a while I eventually got up to applying 32 clicks to one Mossie Bite with still no success. I thought this was just a waste of my $20 and left it in the cupboard.
Went to the recent caravan show at Sandown and the man on the Mossie Click stand wanted to sell me one but I told him they didn't work on me.
After some discussion he said if I Emailed the Company they would refund me the cost and sure enough they sent me a cheque for the full price.
Obviously they work on some people but not on me.
Regards Mike

The itch is caused by a protein in the mozzie/midge's saliva. Can't immedaitely see how the unit as described could fix that.

Usual Treatments:

Use soap and water.

Ice

Antihistamine eg Dimetapp

The worst reaction I have had was from midges in NZ. Got several dozen bites just on dark and couldn't sleep for days. Itch lasted a week+

Eat Vegemite or Marmite sandwiches for a few days before you go bush. The B vitamins exuded in your sweat deter moszzies, ozzies and midges :-))

I just rub Vinegar on the bites, Takes the itch away every time.

It seems to work on any sort of insect bite.

I have one too, it works great for me.
I was sceptical too, but after I researched the medical theory behind it, I was convinced it is genuine. It is for real.
It has been great for me, and I'm sure it can be for you too.

When you think about it, the aboriginals for years have been using hot sticks to burn their bites to stop the itch. This works on the same principle without having to burn yourself.
