G'day mate,
I'm just about to upgrade to a larger turbo (next wednesday, 2/11) and will be looking to off-load the existing one. I have a 4.2L GU Patrol. There's nothing wrong with my turbo, but the concensus is that it's not quite big enough for the 4.2; having been originally used by Nissan on the 3.3L MQ Patrol back in the 80's.
So, if you think it would suit your needs (and providing everything goes according to plan of course), I'll be willing to part with my old one for a couple of hundred bucks if you're interested.
Cheers
Roachie

G'day Nudie,
Thanks for the "O" rings, they turned up today and the bigger of the 2 sizes looks just about spot on....cheers
The turbo (standard) packs about 8psi. I had the mob at Berrima that we aren't allowed to mention on here, tune the truck about 150,000klm ago and the did a minor modification to it which raised the boost to it's current level of 12 psi. All the did was to cut into the rubber hose at the waste
gate, insert a "T" piece and run a similar diameter rubber hose up to the air box, to equalise the pressure.....instant 4psi increase.
The bigger turbo is aimed not so much at extra boost (although the bloke at Berry reckons it'll go up to about 14psi), but rather it is hoped the larger exhaust port will aid the "breathing" of the bigger donk than this existing turbo was designed for. He reckons it'll reduce the EGTs (not that they are high at the moment) and will make the fuel economy better. We shall have to wait and see!!
Cheers mate

IF you have not yet spent your $$, upgrade the exhaust system AND THE DUMP HOUSING first!
That thing is so small you cant push a matchbox thru it!

Big fella, no warranty on
