Here is just a suggestion.

Everyone here should get onto A Current Affair website and bombard Ray with 'fancy Scruby turning on one of your own (as Kearns is an employee of 9) and that he is a serial media pest. Even some other media outlets are banning him.
Present your arguement that 4wd drives are no worse than other vehicles, blah, blah and hopefully Ray will expose the fraud that Scruby is.

Cheers,
Lyndon.

Why support Ray, Ray is a scumbag, as are all the other reporters.

I saw a top 20 show on dummy spits where all the channel 9 scummies were pestering, abusing, harassing, stalking, and generally being w@nkers.

"It makes great Television" is what they kept saying. What a load of crap!

Ignore Scruby, ignore channel 9 and go out and have fun. in the mud. I don't give a toss what people think of me and my 4wd. I go out of my way to be over courteous on the road, and that's all I need.

Sorry to shoot down your idea, but it's just playing into their hands.

As usual Scruby has gotten everyone excited again. I just ignore him (and his mental midget sidekick Ray Martin and anything that comes from AAMI). Using the injury of a 19 month baby to garnish support for his lost cause is about as low as one can go.
I'm in Brisbane and from all reports we're possibly looking at one of the wettest seasons for many years (hopefully). I wonder how many Scruby supporters and AAMI customers who don't drive 4wds will expect me (and anybody else who does drive a 4wd) to come to their rescue when their cars start to get stuck on flooded roadways etc. I would love to drive right past, safe and secure in the knowledge that my diesel Patrol will get me home, BUT like 99% of other 4wd drive owners I will stop and get wet and dirty and risk damage to life and limb to help those who need it - and then go home and watch the news to see another report about how a 4wd (never the driver -just the vehicle) has done something else to decrease the population of Australia.
I no longer pay any attention to the news reports, I'll keep my 4wd and will continue to live the lifestyle that suits me, not what the likes of Scruby believe I should live

What's with being anti AAMI? I have my Patrol insured with them at the moment, but I do have an AAMI experience that has put me off them.

Leroy,
I've noticed lately that AAMI supposedly provide Current Affair and Scruby with their so-called statistics. As recent as last weekend they again we sprouting about the dangers of 4wds etc, but I bet they have never refused to insure one. Their service is probably OK but I think it's hypocritical to produce figures stating how these vehicles are killers etc but at the same time be quite willing to collect fees for insurance.
Just a personal thing

Great...the good old do nothing approach and nothing will happen!!! Its all called politics!!!!

This is what will happen over the next year or so:
1. Higher registration fees for 4wd.
2. Higher insurance fees for 4wd.
3. Higher taxes on roads because you own a 4wd.
4. Restriced access to National Parks or higher access charges because you own a 4wd.
5. Total banning of bull bars on metropolitan registered 4wd's.
6. If not a total ban on bullbars, an extra fee added to your annual roadworth.
7. Special licence with extra charges of course, because you have a 4wd.
8. Anything to do with 4wd, you will pay an extra charge.

If it has political mileage and it will keep the politicans in power, they will do it.

But that's ok....I will just sit back like the rest and tell you 'I told you so'

Cheers.

Watching "Top Gear" the other night. Had a yellow "Lambagini" with drive to all wheels on it. Does it qualify as a 4wd? Rear visabillity must be near zero. Shows how stupid Scruby really is.

Never step ino the ring with the media,it will end in tears.

However fourby clubs could learn from bikers and do some charitable fund raising with a big rally each year.

However if that happens I'd like to see a different charity for once - what about fund raising for diversion programs for youth to help reduce the sicide rate. Could even take young people from drop in centres or whatever out on the fundraising rally.

A rally and fund raising gets positive publicity - even from Ray.

Remarkable what one man can do with a fax machine. He probably has every media outlet and politician in the country on speed dial for his "Press Releases". Telstra must love him.

He has been at it for years and has crafted an almost "aura of authority" with his Pedestrian Council crap such that he has become the "go to man" for the media on anything to do with road safety. Just shows you that persistance pays off. No-one seems to have the patience to counter him.

Many lobby groups die out over time. Ignore them long enough and they go away. But this guy just keeps on coming!

I won't go so far as to say that I would wish him, to be run over (would not wish that on anyone, particularly since I have been run over by a car once myself) but I do wish he would pull his head in on the 4WD issue.

Anyway, enough of him. Going to go enjoy my 4WD and the great Australian bush!

I listened to Scruby on Adelaides 5AA this morning. In his defence (did I really just say that) he pointed out that many family cars, including the new Commodore, have very poor rear visibility. Apparently thr NRMA have tested all cars and have a list of the worst performers, he said they should all have reversing cameras, not just 4bys.

He also referenced an American TV show that had a driver in a 4WD and asked him to look in his rear view mirrors, over his shoulder etc. He could see nothing. Behind the car were v24 toddlers.

Scruby is a PITA but lets face it running over a toddler is bad driving and possibly bad parenting. Scruby should not use this to score points, neither should we.
