We're heading to Byron Bay for some R&R soon and were looking to stay at the Byron Bay Tourist Village. Has anyone stayed there recently and what are your thoughts. We've heard rumours of some less appealing groups invading the van parks around Byron...

wizard, the byron bay tourist "park" is just south of the town opposite the golf club.
well run and yes sometimes as in all parks you can get noisy visitors. as this one is about 2 km from the main strip a lot of the younger crowd tend to stay at the main beach and clarkes beach parks. both closer to town and on
the beach.all of these have good managers, reminds me of the time i went to
cape york and while in
cairns the circus came to town. now there was a loud unpleasant lot some were moved on at 3am.

Hi Wizard.
We left Brissy 2 weeks ago intending to stay at BB on our way home to Vic. Drove in, made a sandwich to eat looking at the sea and drove on to
Nambucca Heads.
BB just did not turn us on at all, had an unpleasant feel to it as far as we were concerned.
Now that is my opinion (or ours) only and there must be lots of people who love it as there were lots there.
Rusty

We ended up staying at the
Ballina Headlands Leisure
Park because all the accomodation was booked in Byron. For us it was a wise move because at the time there was a music festival in Byron and there were people everywhere. It's a 20-30 min drive to Byron from
Ballina.
