A while back I posted that my IE Browser and Outlook Express kept on disconnecting from the server whilst I still remained connected to the Internet. I run XP home and am on Dial-up.

Replies suggested that XP Home was not compatible with Networking(our computers are networked) and that I should also try Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. This I did but after a while the same started to happen. It was most annoying and I had to disconnect and re-connect to get on line again. Sometimes the Browser would drop out after ten minutes, sometimes it would go for an hour plus

I went through a process of elimination with networking and the other browsers and eventually as a last resort my computer man and I thought that I might have a crook internal Modem.

I had the LucintWin Modem replaced by a Swann and for the last week I have had no disconnections or drop outs. It is looking good!

Cheers

Willem ,
We have a radio network , and 30 % of the time , when I turn it on in the morning ,the connection to the computer has failed . The only way to fix this , is to disconnect the modem and hit "repair"on the little screen icon which is at the bottom of the screen .
I took the Netgear radio thingie back to the shop and after testing , they said it was working fine .
My computer is only six feet from it , so it can't be walls that are stopping the signal .
It's a bummer .
Cheers ,
Willie .

Hi, I have 5 computers networked at home, 2 are cabled and 3 are wireless.
I ocassionly have one of the wireless connected computers (allways the same one)lose their network address and have to go into and repair that network connection. The wireless connection allways shows a good connection but will not connect to the internet. I dont know what the problem is, its not a major problem just a pain in the butt.
I find XP to be very easy to setup home networking.
I think it is the wireless router that is causing the problem, if any body knows how to fix this feel free to post.
Thanks
Will

Fairly obvoius really...

These computer problems are only happening to users with a name starting with "Will".

Change name by deed poll and the problem may very well disappear?

;))

Yep, you know the old saying Greg - "Where there's a Will, there's a bad modem".
