This article will interest most people on this site. It was in the West Australian on Tues 25/10.
To quote a couple of lines
"However in a recent
test of reversing visibility two four-wheel -drives finished in the top five of 222 vehicles tested.
Tested vehicles included 4WD's, people movers, utilities, and sport luxury, large ,medium, medium small and small sedans.
The Holden Commodore and Crewman featured amongst the worst.
Only one 4WD was in the bottom group."
Now the article doesnt name which cars finished where.
It also states Contrary to popular belief SGIOs research shows that 4WD's perform as
well if not better when it comes to reversing visibility compared to popular sedans.
The research was done by SGIO.
So after all the bad publicity 4WD's have received lately this puts a somewhat different view on it.

Steve,
Just did a google and they have a web site....www.shuroo.com
I didn't look too far into it, but I'm sure they'd have either a list of dealers/distributors or you could contact them direct. I got
mine from Macks Autos at
Cooma.
I've had that one for over 6 years and I hit my 1st roo about 6 months ago.....(must've been bloody deaf!!!! lolol)
Cheers mate

cheers for that Roachie. We just need a hearing aid distribution network for the Roo
population and that should cover it. Bit dearer than I expected, but if they work.......... I thought they were a more simplified gadget that was triggered off with air rushing thru it. I take it they run off the battery?

Yep Steve, they run off 12 v and emit a noise which you can barely hear even when the motor is off......it's a sort zziiitttt...zziiitttt type of sound which is apparently of sufficiently high frequency to alert the roos.
I do believe they work, having driven though several roo-infested areas and seen them get off the road as I approached.
The current model is in 2 separate units; the older one which I have is a single unit with 2 speakers.
I'm keeping
mine on despite losing a little bit of faith when I hit that b@stard a few months ago.

Probably the same survey that was conducted by NRMA.
Lexus RX330 and Pajero Exceed in the top 5, but this was mainly because they were fitted with a Reversing Camera.

They didn't have a section for "trucks" :-)))))
Mine would rate zero, same as a Mercedes CLK500 2-door convertible with the camera off
...and 5 stars - same as the Lexus with the camera turned on.
Pretty easy to see the similarities there.
Cheers
