I have essentially the same vehicle and took delivery in DEC 2003. I concur with the prices. I am sitting on about 53,000K and looking at brakes in the next 6 months or so.
My Dealer has always been up front about all the charges right from
sign up.
Have you gone for the extended warranty Phil? If so how much did it cost in Vic? I got the offer in the mail the other day but no mention of cost.
Of course you can add the cost of a set of tyres in there somewhere too. I think I paid about $1200 for 4 BFG AT.
And then there is the cost of tyre/wheel repairs in the outback (a long story that I posted some time back).
And the extras like Drawers, ARB
suspension upgrade, CB radio, Fridge,
water tanks- the list goes on. The best money I spent recently was $70.00 for a set of Phillips extra white light bulbs- brilliant!
And I am watching the prices of second hand vehicles. I reckon it is dropping due to deals on new vehicles. So when I come to trade up
the gap will be huge.
At least Nissan doesn't push the 5000K oil change/service like Mr T does. ( I do it only if I have been in the dust for an extended period).
Cheers,
Kings

For $800 including gst I was sold my extended warranty by my dealer (Vic) with the sales pitch of 50,000km extra and an xtra 2 years. When questioned he said this meant up to 150k, 5yrs as described above. When I got the booklet and policy in the mail from nissan hq, it actually says clearly 50,000km or 2ys from the km and date the policy was taken out. I took it out at 3 years and 70,000km. This means I expire when I get to 120,000km or 5 yrs, whichever comes first.
I expected I could do a reasonable amount of clicks (80,000 km) in the 2 years to get to 150k under warranty. No so - I think I have actually bought around a 1 year extended warranty by default.
The dealer said they have some discretion as to the price they charge also.
Regards, Damon.

Novated lease.
This is great if your employer comes to the party and your tax bracket suits! I have had three vehicles this way, including my current Patrol, but alas it all had to come to an end when I took the retirement package.
I guess that it is general knowledge but for what it is worth when on a fully maintained lease the Leasing Company has a special discounted price for all agreed servicing and repairs. It is quite a substantial discount and I have really noticed it now that I am paying out of my own pocket with "after tax" money.
Oh
well, them's the breaks! I wouldn't swap retirement for work.

My 80,000 service at Giant Nissan in WA cost me over $1,100, with no extras. The $40,000 service done in
Port Lincoln was $700-odd for the same work.

Yeah, Magic Nissan in Melville quoted me the same, so I took the service book to my local mech and asked for a quote. He did it by the book for just over $600

Have you been marking filters etc to ensure you are getting what you paid for?
Hopefully you have got a good service dept.
I have not had good experiences with dealerships in the past and am of the belief that they are primarily in the business of selling new cars not making cars last.

I have spoken to mechanics working in dealerships in the past and they have been allocated a set time to perform a service depending on the vehicle. Their comment was that it is sometimes not possible to do a thorough job in the allocated time.
