We have a serious contender "Kim and Doug (Qld)" with their effort:

Post 27527 "Why do you need a Generator?"

As I write this; 24 responses, 61 follow ups and 1102 views.

Lots of agression, abuse, opinions, stirrers, and sanctimonious bull$hit.

Overall, an entertaining read.

Gave me a giggle.

Important note: I sat back, watched, but did not get involved LOL.

Cheers,

Jim.

Just hopping down from the fence, if and when I do eventually get a gennie, I certainly wouldn't be running it at night. Don't think a retort like "your snoring is louder than my generator" is the brightest.

not a lot constructive there.
best thing we purchased our solar panels
was better to stay out than get in and explain why we bought them

'twas a good read.

Effective demonstration of the self limiting nature of this site's format.

Whilst a good read it would shyte me if it was sent to the top of the list with each reply. After the first 100 responses it may get tiring. This way it fades away before it gets boring.

Thanks Phil, didn't know about that one, I think I'll stick to sorting by post I.D. I like old posts fading away, seems to keep it more interesting.

Jimbo

I read all the comments and it is obvious that there are two types of campers. Most of the time they go to different places and have different expectations of their camping experience. Occasionally they overlap, and this is where the problem arises.

I wonder if we could arrive at a simple guideline that would enable people to share the bush without encroaching on each others rights or causing fights?

HOW ABOUT A BROAD CURFEW ON GENERATORS AT SUNDOWN? (Except in designated campsites where extended use is permitted).

That would enable generator users to do all the refrigerating and charging they could possibly need, while still preserving the peace of the bush at night (no matter how quiet you think your generator is the sound still carries hundreds of meters on a still night).

Cripes,
I re-read my post to see what I might have have said that got Pesty so upset.
I concluded that either I must have caught him on a bad day, or he is an absolute prikk all the time.

You missing me Pesty?

Don't worry Bob, Pesty will forget that he has said anything bad and you will be the one who is in the wrong. I agree with your idea though. I have camped in an area with Pesty, but not close by, and I could hear his generator running in a National Park. It was during the day though, and was turned off at dusk, so no complaints from me.

Cheers

Glenn

You pathetic powered site poovdahs
You love the sound of your own generators like the smell of your own farts
The great thing is - jerks like you guys tend to stick together, usually not too far from the nearest shops, flushing toilet etc
Blokes like you are usually insecure little faggots that need to make their presence felt.

See you in the bush - I think not

No Nudie,

I'm a Solar man, only because funds forced me to choose between them. If money was no object I'd have a nice quiet gennie as well.

Yep. It was a bit like the campfire/bonfire topic. Inconsiderate bustards on one side and sanctimonious bustards on t'other and the occasional bit of commonsense.

btw, just joined the solar club and tested out some toys on the back lawn at weekend. Can't wait to hit the bush. Wouldn't rule out a gennie in future though. Just to be sure, like. Wouldn't run the ghetto blaster off it after dark though.

I'm gettin splinters up my arce sitting on this fence.
