After all the hopes and dreams of massive market share, the crap starts to fail.

Nothing new really, the quality control isn't there anymore, from the cheapest toaster to the dearest car, there will always be something wrong. A sign of the times, todays disposable society.

Ahh the 5 Year warranty, if you can buy a better built & backed car then buy it..! On a serious note we have to support them from the Aussie built and jobs point of view so this is only strike 1, they have 2 more goes..!

IMHO they arent different enough compared to the Magna to be anything "Special"... Just looks like a rebadged Magna to me. Thats why I cant see it being a real winner.

havent been in one but have seen several round.

I didn't even notice them until my wife pointed out they look like a Magna. If someone had asked me if Mitsubishi had a new car out, I would have put money on it as bullsh*t so I guess the ads mustn't have been anything special either. Can't recall them.

I don't think they'll sell in huge numbers either which is a pity for SA and the Australian car industry as a whole. Bit too much 'rice' in the mix for my liking.

Bring back the mighty Valiant I say!!!!

Holden Showcar stuns Show

13 October 2005

Holden has stunned journalists and the motoring industry by unveiling a 2005 update of the iconic FJ Holden, the EFIJY.

The 480kw monster show car pays tribute to the 1953 FJ, but is far beyond that car in terms of power and sophistication. Whereas the 1953 model maxed out at 45kW of power, this 480kW reincarnation has a 6 litre Chevrolet Corvette engine and features a supercharger which gives it, according to Holden chairman and managing director Denny Mooney, about as much power as a V8 Supercar.

But Mooney said this car will not see production any time soon.

"This car is about pure fun. It's about emotion. It's about imagination," he said.

"It shows what designers can do when you let them loose."

The car appears on the Holden stand on the show in glittering purple paintwork and sleek, very long, 5.2m lines.

Holden also launched a new SUV, the S3X concept from HSV, which is likely to go into production in 2006.

Notice how in true Mitsubishi fashion they omit to tell you that when the fuel line in the engine bay comes off, it could easily lead to a fire.

In their opinion the worst result of a pressurised fuel line spraying fuel all over the engine bay is that the vehicle may stop. I suppose if it catches fire but doesn't stop the driver will definately stop!!

Geezuz you're a hard man!
You would expect the car to stop well before the the fuel had a chance to ignite!!
With most modern cars if the engine stops the fuel pump stops with it, thus reaching a point where no extra fuel getting pumped out, to ignite!!
That's how a modern car SHOULD be designed, as most european cars have been since the mid 80's.

The point is, though, if fuel under high pressure hits the exhaust it could easily ignite, and the electric fuel pump will continue happily feeding the fire till the battery no longer works.

The design of the car is not the problem, and all cars from whichever manufacturer will have build faults even if they have no design faults.

The problem is Mitsubishi trying to hide that a fire is a real possibility, and they have a long history of this kind of behaviour. Some ex executives are still in jail in Japan for hiding faults.

As arthurking83 said if the engine stops the fuel pump stops .This is to stop happening exactly what you described. This is nothing new I had a 1984 VK commodore with electric fuel pump. There was a relay that had a feed off the distributer and if the revs weren't above about 250rpm the relay cut the power to the pump. Now if they can do that in 1984 it would be much easier today with everything being run by a computer.

New Nissan Recalls

Recall Date:
OCT 13, 2005

Summary:
ON CERTAIN MINI VANS, THERE IS A SEAT ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM THAT CONTAINS EXPOSED MOVING COMPONENTS LOCATED AT THE REAR INSIDE EDGE OF THE SECOND ROW SEAT.

Remedy:
ON EARLIER MODEL VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH JUNE 28, 2004, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INBOARD SECOND ROW SEAT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE, RIVET A PLASTIC REINFORCEMENT TO BACKSIDE OF THE EXISTING SEAT BACK COVER CARPETING, INSTALL TIE-DOWNS AND A FLANGE TO THE INBOARD SIDE SHIELD. ON VEHICLES PRODUCED FROM JUNE 29, 2004 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 26, 2005, DEALERS WILL RIVET A PLASTIC REINFORCEMENT TO THE BACKSIDE OF THE EXISTING SEAT BACK COVER CARPETING, INSTALL TIE-DOWNS AND A FLANGE ON THE INBOARD SIDE SHIELD. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE TRAILER SEPARATING FROM THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TOW HITCHES. ON OCTOBER 17, 2005, OWNERS WILL BE SENT AN INTERIM LETTER ADVISING THEM NOT TO USE THE TOW HITCH UNTIL IT CAN BE REPAIRED. ANOTHER LETTER WILL BE SENT OUT MID-NOVEMBER 2005, NOTIFYING THEM TO BRING THEIR VEHICLES IN FOR REPAIR. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

still an improvement on an un-named company who won't fix their independent suspensions when they break and there have been a lot mentioned here. Even one member who had it as his rig pic for a while if I remeber rightly. One guy who was quoted as having paid $12,000 for a recovery for his 4by. Another with the wheel falling flat on the ground, still attached to the hub.

On their other issues where the front diff "loses" teeth, one member reporting after driving over a stone on a training course. No contribution to the repair either from the manufacturer.

TUF100 eh? Not likely. Yes, I may get bogged again.........

Thanks Rock Crawler, quite an interesting look. Probably the reason I didnt get a mention is that my tdi, build date Sept. 97, purchased new Jan. 98 is not one with defects as shown!
But, sheez! the td5 with possible flywheel disintegration and other probs. is something of a concern for those lucky owners.
Actually, without too much crap, I have been very happy (lucky?) with my tdi. I also have a 97 hzj Cruiser, a diesel you can barely hear running.
I said to the missus I would like a vintage car, so bought the disco. At least it sounds like one! (but leaves the L/C for dead off road!) he he!

As i stated above there all crap lol . Pick the one you like the looks of and enjoy it .

The recall makes the car; I don’t think I could go back to a car that hasn’t had a recall. LOL.

It isn’t as bad as it sound’s they were all for small problems, Possible Faulty C/Control switch, Possibly defective fuel line connector (Or something) Rear door hinge for glass and one other thing I can’t remember. Didn’t have the car when it was done anyway.

Mate don’t get me started on Disco’s, I can make one phone call and be able to list like a page of problems just from someone I know who has had like 4 of them+ 1 range rover.

Like my mate (His son) Say’s, they are a grate 4WD when they work.

When the gearbox went on the latest one (Not the new new ones) I said, how did it do a gear box its only got 25,000k’s on it.

You know what he said. “ It land rover, it self destructs all by it self you don’t need to even drive it for part’s to where out.”

Don't the nay-sayers come out quick... I know it's a slow night on the TV tonight but "Sheesh!"

when you check out this recall site, click on the Motor Vehicles tab at the bottom and read through all 676. All of the major auto manufacturers are there, and some in all too frequent numbers...

Don't be fooled - the 380 is a hell of a lot different to the Magna... just ask anyone who has driven one what they think...

there are a lot of families incomes that are relying on the success of this model (no mine is not included in this). Don't be so quick to knock the new model just cause the manufacturer is trying to crawl out of a 'rut'

..."please consider"

as already stated -

"The connector locking tab on the fuel hose that connects to the fuel inlet pipe on the engine may not be fully based and as a result, the hose may become dislodged. In the worst case, this could result in fuel leakage and loss of fuel pressue causing the engine to stop."

Wow talk about an understatement, how about the vehicle will roll to a stop in a massive fireball as the fuel pump continues to hose fuel into the engine bay !!!

I'll guess they are using the same crappy plastic lines and quick lock connectors that holden use on their tank lines.

But at least they are on to it and not just doing a 'service improvement' program like gmh love to do to hide their probs.

Bring back the valiant drifter pannie...............

The fire ball stuff maybe a bit over the top, I might be wrong but I believe once the CPU senses the lack of fuel pressure it will shut the vehicle down, as is the case with most vehicles now adays with Computer controlled fuel/electrics etc.

I wonder why there are so many 3ltr Nissans on the road with all the problems they had in 2000, mostly motors with holes in them.

I think the 380's biggest problem is the fact they have gone larger in motor size just as fuel prices have started increasing again. Its a pity, as i know a couple of guys who have driven them and said they rode heaps betta than their Holden Statesmane.
