I have had Old Man Emu
suspension (coils only) fitted to my '97 Nissan Patrol. The good news is that the 285 tyres now look right. The bad news is that the truck looks a lot higher at the front than the back. I can see that the wheel arch at the front is maybe an inch higher by design - but the truck looks like it has a ton of sand in the back. There must be a 2 inch gradient along the roof line - the back being 2 inches lower than the front..
My first thought was that the coils are the wrong way round but they were fitted by specialists who assure me that they are done right.
Anyone else had this issue? Will the front drop a little over time?
Cheers, Jim

You must have the wrong coils fitted the back should be approx 10-20mm higher than the front, if you still have std shocks they will be to short, drop travel will be bugger all!

The other issue I forgot to mention was that the steering wheel is now pointing at 10 to 4 instead of quarter to three. Again - the garage says this happens with a lift. Has this happened to anyone else? I figure I just need to take the steering wheel off and reposition. How is this done with the airbag - a specialist job?

I have checked the codes on the coils - they are as follows:
Front Right (drivers side) OME 976 A
Front Left 976 B
Rear Right OME GQ02C R/H
Rear Left OME GQ02c L/H
Does anyone know if these are right for a 1997 2.8 (right hand drive) Patrol?

What part no. coils were fitted. Did you get a written OME warranty form with before and after measurements?

I have spoken to another OME dealer - not the bull bleep one that fitted
the springs.
According to the OME book, my front coils are meant for a 4.2 -
mine is a 2.8. No wonder the front is high! I have 976 on the front and should have either 974 (light) or 972 (heavy)
On the back the coils seem OK - they are designated as heavy load for the 2.8 or light load for the 4.2.
I now need to convince the dealer to change the fronts to the correct coils. Not sure whether to go for the light or the heavy duty?
I have emailed ARB and asked them to confirm this information. Once I receive a reply from them it should be enugh to convince the outfit that supplied and fitted my coils that they need to change them. ( I have tried calling the today but they are all at a 4x4 event)
Would it be best to go with light duty coils on the front as I have light duty on the rear?
Cheers, Jim

Jim
Send an email to arb head office sales@arb.com.au and make sure they know that they have a dodgy dealer. They are always quick to rectify problems of this type, but if they dont know they cant fix it.
Cheers

You are dealing with an idiot.
A reputable and trained ARB fitter would have measured your ground to wheel arch distances before releasing the vehicle and rectified before delivery.
Take it to your nearest authorised ARB depot.

Thanks for the help and advice. I contacted ARB and they confirmed that I had been sold the wrong springs for the front. They have emailed the dealer who have agreed to do a swap and I am booked in on Wednesday.
Cheers all
