has anybody mounted a fire extinguisher in a ute, where? just bought a 1kg ext. but now i can't work out where to put it. thought about behind the seats but i don't really want to put holes through the panel thats only 1 layer and its a bit hard to get too.
how about on the roof above the passengers seat on the bit of metal the light is on.?

p.s. its a patrol c/c

I've got mine mounted under the drivers seat across the front so it basicaly sits behind your ankles type of position. dosent get int the way and is very easily acessable if ever needed.

I have got the 1.5 kg Chubb bottle and I felt that with only one strap holding it , it might come out of the bracket in an accident . It really would go right through you if it hit you .
So off I went to Chubb to see what they could do about it . I told them it was to be mounted in my racing car and that I was very concerned about the fact that it only had the one bracket yabba yabba yabba .
They replaced my holder with a tighter one and let me keep the old one . I cut the bracket off the old one and put it onto the new one to give it great security .
I mounted mine under the cargo platform I have added after I took both the rear seats out . ( my car is a two seater now )
When I had my track car , I mounted the bottle transversly in front of the drivers seat . It never got in the way there . I would have done the same with this car if I had not fitted the cargo platform .
Cheers .

I resist drilling any new holes as much as I can. In my GU I mounted mine horizontally across the front of the bottom of the drivers seat using 2 existing screw holes. I removed the screws that were in there (and put them aside for when I want to return everything to normal) and with some longer screws mounted a 9cm x 30cm piece of maisonnite (spelling?) which essentially hangs down from these mounting screws on a bit of a slant backwards. I mounted the normal plastic extinguisher bracket to the maisonnite.

Have been over heaps of rough tracks and it hasn't moved. Sits out of the way behind your ankles (as someone else said). Its mounted to the seat and moves forward / back with the seat if you adjust the seat.

Not sure if all Patrol seats have these screws or if my model is different. Mine is a Ti which again may make a difference.

Cheers
Trevor

Someone said it further up the discussion - under/just in front of the drivers seat. It keeps the 'stuff' from sliding forward from behind the seat too!

I had mine fitted under/in front of the passenger front seat. I used the existing seat fixing bolts to bolt a piece of flat steel between those bolts and fixed the extinguisher to that.

Beautiful!

No one else has said it but i utes with extinquishers every day and there are 3 spots In the back for large ones. Behind the ankles like already described and (even better) is below the seat at the side eg open the door and looking at the seat there is room below the seat between the door - out of the way of everything
