Has anyone had the diff housing on an 80 series crack -post 95- both sides ,and if so in the welding process how did they assure it wasn't going to break again

Heard that the neoprene bushes used to correct caster will stress the welds at the arm mounts when the diff tries to articulate.. Is this where the housing has cracked???
Seen people weld up and then gusset the area to strengthen it....personally, i would put the rubber bushes back in, and slot the housing bolt holes (and afterwardsm weld a washer back in the new position) instead of using the neoprene.

I am with Andrew on this one, rubber bushes with castor correction arms is best. Any good engineering place can wield the housing
well enough , some strengh plates between housing and axle tubes wouldnt go astray either

thankyou both for that It confirms what we had been told Yes it did break there on both sides We have got some rubber ones and will definitly fit these now One side we had welded the other side was half done with 12 volt on track and later when this gave way with normal weld but only half way again we also have front and back lockers and wondered if these caused extra stress . We had no trouble with our other 80 series also lifted and shockered.
