Hi guys and gals , I have a UHF radio here that has 2 antennas thatt can attach to it . The radio is a UNIDEN UH-090 on the back it has 2 antenna connections , one says UHF the other says HF . on the front it has a AM / FM button . Can anyone tell me if this a reasnoble UHF and is the HF connection like a AM CB radio ?

Any information would be valuable at this point in time lol

You will find a copy of the manual here:

http://www.uniden.com.au/RESOURCES_MAIN/pdfs/UH090.pdf

The radio is a combined UHF and AM radio and you need 2 antennas if you wish to use both bands.

Cheers

I'm not familiar with radio just found the manual through a quick google. Having a quick look at the manual it appears the "call" button on the top of the mic acts like a sellcall but only on FM (UHF).

Suggest you give the manual a read.

I have the same radio. It is FM (UHF) and AM as you correctly point out.

I've never used the AM as all the guys I travel with have only FM anyway.

If I was to purchase again I'd get the remote head FM model. The FM is good.

The best thing about AM is that you don't gets lots of traffic, so if you have a mate with one, you can have interuption free conversations and you don't tend to get the DH element in built up areas.

The call button is for selcall, the moni button is usually an override for the receive selcall; ie, it will open the mute on all calls.
