Maybe old Henk Guth revisted it in the dead of night with a box of matches.
The old bloke passed away last year.
Yes it was something else to behold.

What a pity. Several years since I was out there, but the panorama was fantastic. A reall loss.

It is always a great pity when something irreplaceable is destroyed. I feel for those who will be most affected by the loss of this landmark tourist feature.
We did not get to see it on our trip to the Alice a couple of years ago. I have heard that it was a spectacular work but with limited time you see what you can.
Coming from
Broken Hill we have plenty of art to look at including "the Big Picture" by Peter Anderson which is apparently the biggest painting on canvas in the southern hemisphere. If you are visiting
Broken Hill the Big Picture is one of the "must see" destinations.
As a firefighter in town I hope we are never faced with what the boys in the Alice had the other night.

Thats very sad news.
I'm not an "art" man, but I was fortunate to have visted Panorama Guth this year. We only went in because we had some time on our hands, and certainly glad we did.
I didn't realise what a prolific and talented artist Guth was. While the panorama itself was a bit corny, the building was full of some fantastic pieces from not only Guth, but many others including Albert Namatjira.

Not just the Panorama either - there was some great artworks in there - heaps of them in fact - a great pity.

Check out what happens when supply shortens at EBAY.
If you can't follow the link, a Guth original went for over $450.
