Has anyone used an automatic carwash like Carlovers Laserwash with a snorkel on? Bit worried about water getting sprayed straight down the snorkel.

Can't say for sure, as I haven't used one of those washes since putting the snorkel on.

But it should be OK, as none of the jets spray horizontally at the snorkel opening, so the small amount that would splash in would probably be no worse than driving in heavy rain.

I'm also curious as to what others have experienced, as mine needs a good wash at the moment!

If the engine is not going there should be no trouble as most snorkel systems have a water bleed built in . Also there is usually one on the bottom of the air filter housing.
Imagine the water at 100k through a severe storm, where does it go?

Richard,
An off road Regal 16ft van & it's been around the block twice as well as cross country.
It's a desert series custom made job.

They are made in Melbourne by Opel Caravans.
The agent in WA according to my books is,
AAA Midland Caravans 12/14 Lloyd St. Midland WA 6056
Ph 08 9274 3388.
Ring for a brochure.
Or ring Regal on 03 9308 6688

Ejukated,
I used a Car Lovers car wash several times with no problem with the safari snorkle installed on my GQ. I did have a sock in the inlet that was all, never got any evidence of water in the primary filter casing, well not worth worying about anyway.
Keep the shiny side up

hi there - a word of caution

we tried once - never got as far as the water. The brush thing got caught in the snorkel and just about ripped the head off. Our snorkel (safari) stands out a fair bit from the car - Prado 90. Had to replace the screen on the snorkel head.

just watch closely as it goes through.

Thanks, the laserwash doesnt have brushes, just high pressure water from an arm that moves around the car spraying the side and top. From the looks of things it should be ok.

Been through the CarLovers Laserwash at least 50 times and have yet to find any mist/water make its way into the air box.
Cheers
