Has anyone replaced their 18 inch tyres (255/55/18) on their discovery?? If so what did you put on ?? I want to fit the most aggresive rubber i can. So far the only option i've come across is 275/65/18 cooper stt, which will involve some fairly extensive work to fit as they are 3 inches larger in diameter.
thanks in advance.

Hi Disco Cox
Firstly, you need to ditch the 18 inch
wheels. They are a highway/on-road/show car wheel. Keep them by all means for the 'show car' look, but you need to find yourself maybe some 16inch steel rims (or alloys if you are really going for looks). Ruling out that you have a Discovery 3, if you have a Series 2 Disco, the steel
wheels are harder to come by. Series 1, you are laughing.
You can get up to approx 275/75/16 rubber on 16 inch rims on the Disco without panel rework. At 16 inch size, standard specs are 235/70.
You can get all the good US brands at the larger size rubber, eg BFG, Coopers etc.
Cheers

Will a 16" rim fit on a Disco3? Their smallest standard wheel is 17". Would 16" clear the disc rotor and caliper?

Sky Pilot, no they won't clear the disc calipar.
Disco cox, hunt around for alloys from a P38 a Range Rover 95 on if you have the Disco 2 alot of Landy
places sell them for around $100 to $150 each, steel rims you can get from Rangie spares in
Melbourne, i think the last time i heard they were $135 each and there the cheapest, most
places sell them for $250 +.

If you go to www.chronicles.proboards and do a search you will find PCH in
Melbourne has fitted 17 aftermarket Alloys with Coopers to his D3. Worked out cheaper than fitting 18" tyres.
Range Rover
wheels DO NOT fit the D3, the offset is different.
