We finally bought the GPS. Now we are trying to work out how best to mount it in the LC100. Obviously on the dash is giving best satellite reading but it's also where it's hottest. Should we be looking at using an antenna extension so that we can mount the GPS away from the windscreen heat? Or is there another way? We'd appreciate any advice
Thanks

External antenna is probably the best solution, mighty mouse or something similar then you can have the gps anywhere you want it in the car.
The gps will probably work ok except when heading south (satellites are in a equatorial orbit from memory) and in steep timbered country without an external antenna.
I've bought antennas and leads from gpsoz.com.au .

Here's how I mounted mine on my 4Runner which should have a similar steering setup as the cruiser.

The angle of the winsdcreen on the 100S is good for mounting a GPS on the dash. I have a Garmin III Plus and have not had any problems. Garmin state the temp range is -15 to +70 degrees C. I am not sure what the temp would get to on the dash, but on a really hot day I just throw a towell over the GPS. I rarely have any loss of reception.
