Hi,
We are looking at a new auto v6 pathfinder for the family to share and were not able to get stock to test the auto on down
hill engine breaking, does anyone have feed back on how effective it is. We currently have a v6 auto Prado which has very effective engine braking compared to all other autos we have driven in the past.
So we want to be comfortable knowing that the Nissan Pathfinder in auto can go where the auto Prado goes (equally as
well)
cheers

Never buy any vehicle without test driving one.
If the dealer cant "FIND" a test vehicle for you, they obviously dont want your cash.
Try another dealer
YMMV

I did, went
well, but engine noise in the cabin was rather high and not a patch on my current Prado for quietness.

I'd imagine the Auto diesel is going to have better engine braking. By the way, does anyone know what the service intervals are like on the Diesel Pathies?

I drive an 03 Pathy and you get good braking or down
hill control in 1st 4L.

Thanks "old mate" finally a real answer to my question......just needed to get that sort of confirmation as some autos(Jackaroo,Pajero) I have driven simply were not effective in low first.
cheers

Try the pathfinder owners club at www.pcoa.org.au/
forum. There are some guys there that have the new model pathy and would be good for some info.
