I am doing the
Googs track S to N but was considering doing the stretch from
Kingoonya to Kokatha to Lake Everhard thru the
Gawler Ranges and on to
Wirrulla on the way to
Ceduna instead of doing the boring bitumen trip. Has anybody done this trek and if so do you need any permits or permission or is it just an open road?? (I know about the
Googs track)

Hi there mate. No permits needed. I used to work at
Lake Everard Station so i know this area
well. Watch out for camels on the northern end of
lake everard and also thru Kokatha. A few sharp rocks , ruts and pot holes but i never killed my Mazda 808 on this track in the 12 months i used it before getting a scooby doo. Lots of roos at night so travel by day and enjoy the view. When you get to
Wirrulla do yourself a favour and spend a night. Locals are friendly and pub is teriffic. Rooms at the pub are cheap or u can get a powered site(not flash).

Thanks Brewman.
Well if the old Mazda can do it then I hope my cruiser will handle it.
Anything of real interest worth stopping and having a look at on the way?? I've really got to do it in a day to meet up with people at
Ceduna ready to do the Googs, so unfortunately can't overnight it on the way.

Lots to see on the way but unfortunatly most is all on the private land. A few of the
water tanks have had work done to them. This road is an old stock route. Sounds like a big day of travel you have planned. Have you thought of starting at
Wirrulla and then doing googs north south? Just an idea. have fun and if you are in
Adelaide on DEC 4 join us on our xmas gathering.

We completed the same trip you outlined 2 weeks ago as
well as visiting the
Gawler Ranges The raods had just been open after the "big wet" They were in great shape with only a couple of muddy holes all had alternate ways around
Goog's was easy after all the rain nice and firm completed easily in H2/H3 and
lowered tyre pressures
Luckily we had more time to enjoy as mentioned there is lots to see if you have the time - A great trip
Hope you enjoy your trip
Cheers
Barry
